Thoughts on Tony Racioppi; Pickett’s off-season QB Coach

Post by LakecrestSteeler » Tue Jan 24, 2023 2:11 am

My understanding is Pickett has picked Tony Racioppi as his off-season QB coach. Grabbed from his Linked-In profile.

Sort of a sports-business homepage:
https://www.testsportsclubs.com/tony-racioppi

Fairly eclectic experience. Any other notables from Furians in the know?

I went to Rowan when he played there. Rowan was like the Buffalo Bills of DIII college football. 5 trips in 7 years to the championship game in the late 90’s and lost them all.

Sounds like a perfect recipe for a QB whisperer! You have to be on the bleeding edge of almost good enough to be successful at QB, but just not enough and then love teaching, and also either be mechanically inclined to figure out how to explain the swings of kicking, punting, pitching, passing, batting and golf…these are all forms of a swing, or be a great communicator so you can explain from a book, your eyes or from your mind’s eye.

Here is to KP8 having the greatest off-season ever from a soon to be legend QB whisperer of New Jersey!

He has been working with Kenny P his whole college career.

Think I saw somewhere he has worked with 5 or 6 NFL qb's thru the years.

Video with Racioppi on NFL.com talking about Kenny before the draft.

My wife is from Millville. We lived in Medford for quite a while. When we were younger we'd go down to the shore quite bit.. Cape May, Avalon, Ocean City, etc. When I was in college I actually a had a really cool job one summer working for wawa recording customer store traffic at the beach area stores. Lots of crazy shit going on at 2am at the North Wildwood Wawa. But I haven't been to the jersey shore in quite while.

My Dad went to Wildwood Catholic, lived n Stone Harbor. We had quite a few aunts and uncles scattered through the area. Also had some family up in Sparta and Denville.

We still go to Avalon every summer, even though he passed in 2020. Been doing that since I was born.

Used to love it a lot more, Joe Pa had a house around the corner, a lot less douchebags and a lot more normal people. It was just a sleepy little town. Still love it.

Best tomatoes you've ever had from down there.

Stone Harbor is pretty nice Langer,

Love Wildwood Crest.
Always vacationed there with my family growing up.
Probably stayed in 3 dozen places over my lifetime.

Best beach in New Jersey, as far a sand quality, low, slow rolling tide,
great waves, usually get a second set of waves breaking with how long and steady the ocean surface is down there.
Can walk for 200-400 feet into the ocean.

Down side to W.W. beach, is the long walk from boardwalk or street entrance to water....
especially with little kids.

Best boardwalk on the East coast? Maybe.

The beaches in Avalon down near 18th street took a beating last year.

I try to make it over to the other side on the bay to have something to relax and soak in the sunsets. They are usually spectacular. I found a couple of new places last year. Gotta wait until the sun goes down, then the sky chief makes his appearance.

We had so many great times at the shore with all the cousins and everyone having a good time...ah, getting nostalgic. We used to go so far out, and catch some monster waves, I was small, but they looked massive. Ride them in all the way. Man I miss my Dad.

I bring back bags of tomatoes. Nothing like it.

You surf or are you talking about body surfing?

The Reeds in Stone Harbor is one of the best spots to take in a sunset by the outdoor bar.

And as far as your tomatoes comment, so true. Jersey is def known for its tomatoes, which make an amazing sandwich all by themselves.

Just body surfing, it seemed we could be riding a wave for minutes. Great feeling.

There's a jetty up a ways that I go out to grab some pics. One of those I posted was in the middle of an intense storm rolling in, those clouds were filled with color.

A tomato, a little salt and EVOO, that's enough for me. The flavor must be coming in from the soil.

It is definitely the soil. The other great produce from jersey are the blueberries. Those road side farm stands in south jersey are awesome in mid-summer.
