Yes, I know it's Tomlin's defense, but I know one guy who appreciates all the heat on Canada and his name is Teryl Austin
Poached this stat from crappy ass Depot:
"With their 30-6 loss to Houston Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost SIX games by 22 plus points over the last three seasons 2021- present."
"From 1998-2020, a span of 22 years...THAT'S 22 YEARS, the Steelers lost by 22 plus points SIX times.
Number of losses by 22 or more points:
2021-2023- SIX games
1998-2021- SIX games
(More than a few of you couldn't wait for LeBeau to go. Ya feel pretty shit-off stupid now doncha).

LeBeau had a nice run, but his time was over. The game didn’t just pass him by, it sped by and then lapped him.
That’s a fact that Tim Tebow put an exclamation point on!
The problem wasn’t moving on from LeBeau, it was having a dimwit trying to hire his replacements from within the Steelers good ole boy system.
They’ve replaced an aging leopard with a couple of rabbit pelts.

Dick LeBeau on his WORST day could coach circles around Austin AND Mike Tomlin
It’s not debatable
Dick retiring wasn’t an issue
Father Time and all
The issue is and always has been
TOMLIN is GAWD AWFUL at hiring assistant coaches

LeBeau wasn’t done fwiw
He was shitcanned by Rooney pretty much the same way Rooney shitcanned Arians
LeBeau had several decent years coaching afterwards

Didn't they shove LeBeau out the door out of fear that Keith Butler would leave if he wasn't made DC? God forbid we would have missed out on Keith Butler, legendary Memphis coach.

He was DC and assistant HC from 2015-17 for he Titans under Whisenhunt and then Mularkey (speaking of good old boys network).
His defenses were 27th, 16th and 17th in points surrendered and 12th, 20th and 13th in yards surrendered.
So no, those weren’t decent years.

LeBeau had a genius stroke of innovation. Then OCs caught up. What has Tomlin ever innovated? Who has he hired that ever innovated anything?
THIS, in my opinion, is the biggest problem with the coaching staff.
Nobody has to guess anything playing the Steelers.

Nobody has to guess anything playing the Steelers.
Nope.
Not at all.
On both sides of the ball.
Zero element of surprise on offense.
Nothing innovative....forget innovative, nothing deceptive, tricky, etc.
Coach feels the play designs and the plays called are solid....and should work if properly executed by the players.
Well, the other 11 guys on the opposite side of the LOS are also usually put in the right spots and are expected to execute.
The defense is just as bland. With very little change, variation, surprise, etc.
The defense...
Just like the offensive.
Is predictable.
Is play it safe.
The opponent knows and can game plan, that TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith will be lined up in the same exact spot,..... every single snap they take.
No element of suprise.
Very few if any stunts with those two.
Double load them? Switch them?
Let one line up over center?
Corner blitz?
Safety blitz?
ILB firing up the middle?
Press coverage to make QB go to 2nd and 3rd options?
So easy for teams to game plan against this defense.... just like the offense.
The side of the ball that will excel, is the side that is better prepared................
And in the case of the Steelers...........the side that has the answers will have a much easier task.

To be fair the Steelers ask more of their defense than any team in the league. Every other team the goal is keep the score respectable enough so the offense can win the game. The Steelers ask their Defense to win the game. If the Steelers don't get a defensive score in a game their chances to win are extremely low.

And not only that but where is like matchup exploitation?
Weren't the Texans like down 3 starters on the OL including both OTs?
KENDRICK GREEEEEEN was starting!
And the Steelers defense came away with ZERO sacks and ZERO turnovers???
Against a rookie QB???
And a rookie HC and OC???
How in the ever loving FUCK is that possible???
Brutal
Low-Watt and Lowsmith indeed
GAWD AWFUL Teryl Austin needs to be on a rail right next to Canada.

Houston knew that the Steelers defense is the pass rush and not much else. Their game plan was to neutralize them by quick throws to the spots vacated by the OLBs, and to run counters and traps right at them. It worked to perfection. The Texans running game, one of the weakest in the league, shredded the Steelers overrated D and their JV level coaching staff.
A rookie head coach, rookie OC and rookie QB twisted Mr NHALS and his minions into a pretzel.
But let’s keep screaming FIRE CANADA! That’ll show ‘em!

Great coaches anticipate how an opponent is going to attack their weakness and they are ready to combat that.
Average coaches see what is happening early and adjust quickly.
Bad/Horrible coaches take a whole game and sometimes more to figure it out.
If you didn't realize before the game, you could tell in the first few PLAYS, that the Texans would run stretch plays, chip our OLBs, and use screens/draws to slow down the rush. We had NO FCKIN answer. We just kept playing soft coverage with our slow CBs getting smoked. It's HUMILIATING and it happens over and over.

How much easier would it be to defend and prepare for Micha Parsons, if he came from the same spot EVERY SINGLE SNAP. They move hoim all over the field.
He strikes fear, anxiety, nervousness, etc.......once he shifts around and makes the QB think twice, makes the center change his assignments, needs the TE or RB to shift sides, slows the play call, disrupts any rhythm or timing the Offense had breaking the huddle.
Same with Max Crosby.....seems like they move him around alot, and if I recall, he came on a few stunts in the Steelers game.
How about Myles Garret. There was a pre-game segment on him, and part of it highlighted the fact that he moves all around the defensive side of the ball. They showed a re-play, i believe vs. the Titans, in which Garrett lined up on the right, the O broke huddle and ( 2 ) TEs went to his side. Garret then switched to the left side, the 2 TE's then motioned together to follow him to the left side, Garrett switched one more time back to the right and as the 2 TE's went in motion to go back to Garrett, play clock was winding down, 2 guys were in motion at once and they did not have time....so Titans called a T.O. Disruption and confusion.
Disruption and confusion. That is coaching. That is trying to exploit mismatches. And confusion. Assignment break downs. This all happens BEFORE the snap. That is game plan, scheme, chess match,.................that all happens on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Re-emphasized on Sunday mornings.
That is none existent on the Steelers.
I'll say it till they change.....
The Steelers lose more games before kick off, than any team in the NFL. Period.
Consistent and predictable.
I'll add from my comments above....precisely what the Steelers lack.
The opponent knows and can game plan, that TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith will be lined up in the same exact spot,..... every single snap they take.
No element of suprise.
Very few if any stunts with those two.
Double load them? Switch them?
Let one line up over center?

So true.
No adjustments.
We wait, we wait with the thought process of the opponent will eventually make a mistake.
That we will get a sack, a tip, a pick, a defensive TD.
We have seen this movie before.

Addition by subtraction would be the best thing for this team. Tomlin, Canada and Teryl Austin moving on would make this team BETTER. The offense stinks but with this offensive line I don't know who could succeed. None of our quarterbacks are legitimate NFL starters. The defense stunk too and a lot of that is scheme.

I think it was the one before that, but they all sort of run together in my mind. IIRC they had at least one OL who never practiced in pads with the team who started and played well.
