Tomlin Presser - Tidbits and Bullshits
Didn’t listen but;
- Mitch our Savior gets the nod again. Tomlin liked how he played as the game developed against the 3rd worst team in the league. Can’t say I agree.
- Coach compared the decision to throw it 35 yards down field on 4th and 2 with the game on the line to when Pickett threw it about the same distance on 2nd and 9 to Pickens against Baltimore earlier this year. Try and make sense of that comparison; if your head doesn’t explode.
- more babble and nonsensical bullshit.
End of presser.

I watched a Cam Heyward interview over the weekend. It sounded exactly like Tomlin; verbatim.
"Work harder not smarter" - Mike Tomlin
The second point- either Tomlin is stupid, has zero conception of risk, and/or is just believing his own BS.
The differences:
*Pats it was a 4th and 2 we NEEDED to convert...Ravens it was 2nd and 9
*Pats it was Johnson was bracketed...Ravens it was Pickens with a step and there was no safety help
*Pats it was Johnson as the target...Ravens it was Pickens as the target
JFC!

TJ reportedly , having symptoms today. I’m think, he’s not playing on Saturday.

3rd and 2 empty w no threat of a run
Genius
4th and 2 deep pass w game on the line into what amounted to almost dbl coverage
Genius
We as fans are dopes
Some of us would advocate for a run w Warren on that 3rd and 2, but obviously we aren’t as smart as our crack coaching staff
And then on 4th and 2….some of us would have prob preferred a higher % pass play or a run again, but like I said, we are all armchair coaches and are basically idiots
Thank God we have Tomlin
He’s a great coach

I believe it is being reported from the presser that Tomlin said he didn’t even notice that they had put a visor on Watt’s helmet after the first play of the game.Stillchest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:32 pmAlso, Watt and Highsmith in concussion protocol.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:09 pmDidn’t listen but;

Really? So he didn’t notice that for 59 more minutes your best player on the entire team all of a sudden was wearing a jet black visor on his helmet even though he’s never worn one in his career?
Wow, talk about being fucking aloof!
Nice work coach! Glad you are with us.

Do you think, Tomlin just doesn’t give a fuck because he knows, his job is safe or he knows, he’s not intending to come back for 2024 (he looks and speaks like a HC who is Burnt out) after an amicable parting of ways?Steeldrama wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:32 pmTomlin when asked about his teams slow starts:

Not concerned about half the game. That's pretty funny. Maybe he's trolling.

After all, he’s already admitted to lying to the media, during one of his press conferences.
What are these "details" that you speak, Jeemie? He has NO interest NOR time for "details"!jeemie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:30 pmThe second point- either Tomlin is stupid, has zero conception of risk, and/or is just believing his own BS.

Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Tomlin on duty!

Finally listened.
He started by calling out his defense for not holding the Pats to field goals on short fields.
Maybe he's TRYING to completely to lose the team because he wants out but wants a reason to go out.

Do you think Tomlin is bright enough to orchestrate that sort of exit?
Also, wouldn’t that look terrible for his legacy, and future coaching gigs?

Wants to make sure he gets those COBRA benefits
"Work harder not smarter" - Mike Tomlin
What
"I thought Mitch picked up his play as the game wore on," Tomlin said. "I thought that it is a reasonable expectation for him to be even better, because of that experience and because of the experience of having a full week's prep this week, in preparation for the performance in helping reps and things of that nature."
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

Mitch was terrible and that’s coming from folks that have watched Pickett now for 20+ games.
I get that there will be a drop off when you start a backup but there really isn’t a reason to not give Mason a shot.
I can’t understand this unless he and the “braintrust” don’t want to answer questions about the $$$ involved.
Saturday is going to be a total mess; and that’s assuming Watt and Highsmith play. If they are out then…

If you listen to Tomlin, his answer to every question is some version of the same and has been for years.
He's not concerned about X. Literally every fucking issue the team had or has had it's the same answer. The guy isn't concerned.
Why the fuck would he be concerned or express any public doubt in himself? Or hold himself accountable publicly? Or behind closed doors? His owner buys into his bullshit and he's not going to give him any reason to start second guessing that. The national media largely buys into his bullshit.

Also, what coach comes out and honestly says there won't be competition at a spot where the back-up just played like Mitch Trubisky did?
This in a week where his own locker room was filled with "leaders" calling for players to be held accountable for poor play.

Putrid and pathetic.
Players don’t play.
Coaches don’t coach.
Owners don’t own.
This franchise has cracked open to reveal its rotten core.
There is no hope anytime soon.
If Dan, Chuck, and Bill Nunn entered the building tomorrow they’d still be a load of bricks shy.
Of course it’s right in line with the corporate goal of a league composed entirely of teams a few points + or - of .500

That was a terrible Presser sounds like he knows something up
Because he played exactly how Tomlin wants. The game was three points. That's a perfect Tomlin outcome other than them coming out on the wrong side. He feels like if he plays every game that way, regardless of who the opposing team is, he'll win more than he loses. That's the plan and he's been successful at it his whole career. Playoffs? Superbowls? Nah, never had a losing season is what matters. The standard is the standard.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:09 pmDidn’t listen but;

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
AKA - we lost because we had a short week to get Mitch ready to be the starter. Got to keep layering in the excuses.langer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 10:54 pmWhat

No move is ever correct with those who have an agenda.
If they throw on 4th down it’s why didn’t they run ? If they run on 4th down it’s why didn’t they pass ?? Etc etc etc ad infinitum
