Re: Nick Herbig
NFL radio discussion a cpl days ago and they thought he’d easily see 40% snap count/usage rotating in.
Should be good for everyone.

I have trumped different looks and rotations a few years now...O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.
He's been beating Fautanu like a red headed step child over and over again.
Hopefully he's heavily in the rotation, keeping Watt and Highsmith fresh.
Maybe they can figure a way to get all three on the field.
Imagine Watt, Herbig and Wilson all out there at the same time. That shit gives the Lynch Meister a stiffy.
Seems like we can be much more imaginative in attacking offenses.

You mean actually disguising the pass rush, to help make it more effective by confusing the OLine??Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 1:42 pmI have trumped different looks and rotations a few years now...O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.

Nah... why would they ever do that.
Just set your front 4 in the same positions, 99% of the time, and let them win on their own.
I mean, eff employing schemes for tactical advantage.

Unless the Steelers' offense can score points early and build a lead, opponents will just run the ball straight over the undersized Herbig. He's a nice situational rusher to have off the bench IF you can get the other team into must-pass situations. But let's hope he doesn't see the field too much, because that would mean missing either Watt or Highsmith.
Has he been spending 6 hours a day at Primanti's and the other 8 in the weight room since the season ended?
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
herbig is more of a known commodity at the NFL level than Fautanu, so first impression would be this is more bad news on Fautanu than good news for herbig.O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.

Considering Fautanu is switching positions, I'm willing to give him a learning curve in pass pro. I'd be willing to bet Big Troy vs. Herbig on running plays might be a horse of a different color already.

Exactly which is why they get dominated in the playoffs on the rare occasion they actually make it there. Another thing all the Tomlin apologists ignore.anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 2:04 pmYou mean actually disguising the pass rush, to help make it more effective by confusing the OLine??Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 1:42 pmI have trumped different looks and rotations a few years now...O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
I don't know, it seems like since maybe 2012, and certainly post-Shazier, we've always had at least one weak link position group we're scheming to cover up, which can severely limit creativity, and give a good team and coach something to attack in the playoffs. Not an excuse, just an observation. This year, it's going to be the D-line.

I read that Benton dropped 10lbs, but that he expects to play better this season. He did not look like a guy who had 10lbs to lose.
The DL looks to be a soft spot. Since sometime around 2020 the players up front have not looked big enough.

Great for Herbig, not so great for Fautanu.O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.

Sincerely though, I hope TF does not emerge from camp looking like he is 295 lbs. He looked well proportioned at U-Dub.
(sarca) Even if obviously undersized by ¼ of an inch (/sarca).
Well, drafting players to play out of position is always a great idea, particularly in the first roundSteel Bingo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 8:19 pmGreat for Herbig, not so great for Fautanu.O'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 11:20 amBy all accounts he's looked super sharp and detailed this year.
