Not Steelers related, but this was a fun one:

The whole game. My eyes were bugging out as I started to realize just what we had with this kid named Ben!
I sometimes forget just what kind of athlete he was in his youthful days...and I shouldn't!
I LOVE beating the Browns...lol

One of my memories as a kid was going to a Browns game at 3 Rivers. This would have been mid-to late 70's. We lived in Ohio right on the border and fans got worked up seeing out plates so we had to leave a Steeler hat in the rear window. I can't remember details of the game but when we returned to the parking lot, a actual Brown's fan car was turned on it's roof and put back in the parking slot.

Just getting named the Browns. That pretty much sealed all fate for inferiority.

By way of great mercy the slate was wiped clean after ’95, only to actively pursue and succeed in a return to eternal bondage in ’99.

Pittsburgh's twice a year reminder that football life could be much worse, Cleveland.

They spent millions of dollars for a study to determine which QB to draft in 2014. Study recommended Teddy Bridgewater.

They ended up drafting Johnny Manziel because a homeless man told their owner to do it.

I am not making this up.

The tall tale circulated down south for how the franchise was named went something like this:

There was a Cleveland bar named "Thinking Stool" which served a drink called the Mistake From The Lake - a tonic of cheap scotch mixed with Lake Erie hose water.

One day someone had a few too many and then named the football franchise.

And to this day, nobody has ever figured out what a Brown is.

Fortunately, Pittsburgh has a team named the Steelers which beats them to a pulp every year, so nobody ever worries too much about things.

The good Pittsburgher's prayer:

Thank heaven for the ability to work hard and become the best version of myself.

Thank heaven for The Chief and his fortune to create the greatest sports franchise ever, the Steelers.

Thank heaven I am not fuel for the fires of football hell, a Browns fan.

Due to Porter getting the boot, wasn't that Harrison's coming out party?

To a degree, yes.

That was Harrison's first ever start and he played well. He didn't take over the starting job until Porter left in 2007, though.

Side note - I completely forgot that Clark Haggans passes away around this time last year

2002 Wild Card vs. Pit
Browns were up by 2 TD's early in the 4th. Steelers scored 3TD's and won 36-33 after a last minute Fu TD. You could tell half way through the 4th quarter that the Brown's bench knew they were going to lose, again.

2nd game vs them in 1989. Went up to Municipal Stadium with Blackledge and beat them. Browns fan ran their mouths all week about 51-0 and how it will be worse this time. I hate that fucking team.

The funny thing about Ben and the Browns is he grew up in Browns territory as a Broncos fan because of Elway. The Clowns could have easily drafted him ahead of the Steelers but went with Kellen Winslow's kid. Ben made them pay for 18 seasons.

I remember that one...quite a battle. Frank was, IMO, the best play by play guy ever. He had a "just the facts" approach. didn't have to scream like a 14 year old boy to convey drama or excitement and his love the game shone through...
IT was nice to see Stallworth in that game. A lot of names bringing back a LOT of memories!

In 1995 I lived in Baltimore and my friends lived in DC. I drove to the Shady Grove Metro to pick them up in an ice storm. A trip that usually took around 4 hours took 8 including doing a 180 in the middle of I-68 in Western MD.

We were rewarded by watching the Steelers kick the everloving shit out of the Belichick led Browns 29-9 in the playoffs.

I thought that there was no way any team was coming into 3 rivers and beating them next week...

The Cleveland DA's office was planning to seek 15 years hard time when it caught word of James Harrison slinging 250lbs of dope.

The Steelers got all charges dropped by presenting video evidence that it was just a fat Browns fan.

After 5 nauseating years or so of the Browns at or near the top of the AFC Central, the 1990 season proved to be immensely enjoyable. 1990 started off with another loss to the Stains but then Cleveland crashed and burned the skin completely off thier fans Tremonsters for the rest of the season. Funnier still, they haven't won the AFC Central since 1989. Well done Browns, well done
