Noll and Cowher were both much more successful than Tomlin in the playoffs.
Tomlin has done practically nothing in the playoffs without Cowher's players and coaches. Most overrated coach in all of pro sports history.

Different eras. Same offense. Cowher's offense was great for the 90's and early 2000s. The run first offense loved by Tomlin and Harbaugh is just not going to win many playoff games unless they get luck or have a historical good defense.
You do realize that Wilson had 32 TD total (26TD Pass & 6 running) with 8int last year with basically 1 WR. I believe we all here would jump for joy if he was able to do the same here. He's way better than MRO'Donnell's Bookie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:42 pmI can't imagine Wilson doing any better, but if he can be 75% the QB that Mason was, we'll be in good shape.Stallworth16 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:30 pmMason Rudolph is the guy I thought we should keep not Kenny. Mason turned around a lost season and got us to the playoffs. And nearly mounted a comeback against superior Buffalo team which our defense could not stop. In those 4 reg season games, Mason had a 118.0 QB rating and a 74.3 completion %, and he unlocked Pickens.
Yup, but gotta give Cowher some credit, twice, once with O'Donnell and the 5 wides look on the way to SB 30, and once with leading with the passing game with Ben on the way to 40, for at least adding some innovation come playoff time. Hint to Tomlin and Co. that, obviously, both resulted in at least a SB appearance.jebrick wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 1:30 pmDifferent eras. Same offense. I am not defending Tomlin. I would like to see Dan Jr. hire a coach that has a modern playbook or at least knows what a modern offense should like like.
I remember someone pointing out that Fields averaged 24 pts per game which is more than the Steelers collective did last year by a TD.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 1:34 pmYou do realize that Wilson had 32 TD total (26TD Pass & 6 running) with 8int last year with basically 1 WR. I agree. It's funny how people cry over losing him. Just as funny as people thrilled with filling the QB room with players their teams didn't want. When you look at how Tomlin didn't draft/develop anyone worth a damn during Ben's career combined with what he's done since, he has no clue what he's doing at the QB position along with, well, anything else that has to do with the actual coaching and developing part of being the HC..Kodiak wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 1:39 pmMore than likely, after they got some tape on Mason he was going to start sucking just like the other two.
There's a reason no one wanted "Mason Almighty" as a starting QB, and he's starting out second on the depth chart behind the Ass Levis.
Rudolph just isn't and never will be a starting caliber QB. He's a good backup, but even then interest/money on him says he's more a "mid" backup.
That's not necessarily a fair statement. Remember these dudes:RemoAZ wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 4:42 pmI agree. It's funny how people cry over losing him. Wasn't Montana a free agent - with Steve Young waiting in the wings?gojira5150 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 7:35 pm

Montana - Chiefs
Rogers - Jets
Favre - Jets
Moon - Vikings
He was traded to KC for a 1st round pick.Wasn't Montana a free agent - with Steve Young waiting in the wings?
Rodgers may have forced a trade, but the Packers were ready to see what they had in Love.Rodgers forced a trade. Favre forced a trade.
This is correct.
Exactly. If any of the three they added turn into anything more than a filler for this season I'll be shocked. My fear is now that Tomlin has us locked into mediocrity for the next 4 years, he signs Wilson to an extension before he ever plays a game because we know Tomlin will not be developing any talent at the position. Then we'll be strapped with both of them..Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 1:11 amWasn't Montana a free agent - with Steve Young waiting in the wings?gojira5150 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 7:35 pm

Wilson was cut (with a huge cap hit), and the Bears were desperately trying to move Fields and ended-up settling for peanuts. I think Wilson was better last year than given credit for, but your examples are a bad comparison.
Nah, give Walter Andrew Brister the 3rd his due. Broncos won back to back Super Bowls in 97-98. In 1998 Elway missed 4 games and parts of two others and Bubby was his backup. What did Bubby do? He went 4-0 as a starter, threw for almost 1,000 yards, 10 TDs, 3 INTs with a passer rating of 99.0 and also ran for 102 yards and 1 TD.
Ha, Darieth Chisolm too.Scunge wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 5:39 amWhat I most remember about Bubby's time here is when Edie Tarbox was trying to fix Bubby Brister up with Dagney Hultgreen. What was it with all of the strange names of Pittsburgh TV personalities and athletes during the late 80s???
<low whistle> had to log in just to say damn - that is a monster post. Felt like it was the summer of 1989 all over again. Edie Tarbox and Dagney Hultgreen. Thanks!!!
