Unfrigginbelieveable!! When is this Jokers seat ever gonna get hot. 3 more worthless years of NHALS. 3 more years of neanderthal football. This is disheartening.

Beat me to it lol. Tom Landry has the record for most winning seasons doesn't he? Of course Landry didn't have a playoff slump like Tomlin has.

So we spent a #1 pick on Mid-Kenny, and he's now gone. AND we get Tomlin for 3 MORE YEARS!!!!!

The last few holdouts might finally start to understand why people on this board were rooting for the team to lose last year. And I'm not going to apologize for it, because the buck stops with EMR - fans deserve better than Mediocre Mike.

If you want more than the occasional 1-and-done blowout, then you're going to have to start booing when the team [and especially Tomlin] deserves it.

And he’s basically given another 3 years to try and win a playoff game. That’s all he’s being asked to do. We really don’t have much of a plan and the Pickett fiasco is apparently forgiven entirely by the Steelers brass.

It’s amazing to me how low the bar has been set for Tomlin. I’m actually more impressed with how he’s fooled the ownership considering how little we have accomplished going on 7 years now. Like, kudos to you Coach T.

Yeeaaaahhh, the Chief, Art Sr. is a beloved figure in the history of the Burgh because 1). He was a good generous man outside of the football world and, 2). The Steelers finally started winning in '72 after 40 years of futility.

But in the subsequent decades it has become painfully obvious that Dan was the only Rooney who knew WTF he was doing running a football organization, and without him there's no 6 Lombardis in the Steeler trophy case.

The current Rooney clown has led the franchise far, far down a Nutting-like road of mediocrity, stretching out for the foreseeable forever, and we are screwed ....

So much for Rooney's "warnings" earlier this year. Dumbass doesn't even wait to see if they break the slump.

The optimist says:
1. They can’t let a coach go into the year as a lame duck, because it can and will affect how those under contract for years beyond 2024 respect his decisions.
2. He could still retire after the season and he would get paid the remaining two years
3. He could retire as coach but still be involved with the org and get paid all 4 years anyway

To be fair, we don't know and probably never will the precise terms of the deal. Perhaps the extra two years are actually contingent on certain achievements.

Unless Wilson can return a top-10 QB for a few years, this team will be almost completely stripped of talent as Watt and Minkah get older. Especially given the recent failure to develop and improve talent, at all.

Boswell just turned 33, and maybe he can continue as a top kicker into his late 30's. If not, that's a huge blow to the NHALS streak.

That's one of the absolute worst options. Tomlin should have ZERO input into coaching hires. I can't really think of a role for him where he could add value. Make him the face of the team with no real influence or input on much? That could work.

I still think drafting has generally been good-to-very good most years, and Tomlin deserves some credit for that. But we've failed at improving those players - they all pretty much plateau shortly after learning the system and adjusting to the NFL. Except no one is making strides after their 2nd/3rd years, and that's scheme and coaching.

Chuck Noll was held accountable by ownership for a streak that wasn't even as futile as what we've gotten out of Mediocre Mike.

They are going to let Tomlin hang around at least long enough to break Noll's win totals. And then they'll strut around telling us what a great coach we have the privilege to watch all these years while turning the standard for the organization into a participation trophy.

Not surprized. 3 more years sounds about right. One more chance to let our leader of men resurrect an over the hill, overpaid (and hopefully pissed off) castaway QB, one more chance to resurrect another teams former number 1 QB disaster, one more chance to Run Forrest Run with a like minded OC, one more chamce to draft his "guy" at QB when all the above fail, one more chance to rinse and repeat. Maybe by that time the ARII and MT will both be ready to ride off into the sunset...or not. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH

If its any consolation the Steelers Instagram followers are going wild with excitement.

(Its like they watch a completely different team.)

Well that's it. Had very little reason to watch games this year. Now with no chance to be a SB contender for at least another 4 years and losing my hockey team, I'm pretty much done with sports. The drop in "the standard" goes hand in hand with how standards in society have gone. Striving to be a champion just doesn't matter to most people anymore. Sad.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

It's the part of the offseason where I'm somewhat positive but mostly ambivalent about Tomlin.

About a month from now I'll be puffing my chest out, "that's my coach, son" and ready to thrown down outside of Aldi if you disrespect his name.

Then after week one I'll be Googling "least painful ways to commit suicide" while listening to a lot of Alice In Chains and avoiding ESPN and talk radio like it's the plague.

Circle of life, and things of that nature.
I want to get off Mr. Bones' wild ride.

Avoiding ESPN is always a good move, and my normal routine. But now I’m gonna have to reevaluate my opinion of Aldi.

I can’t do this any longer.

Fuck Mediocre Mike and fuck Deuce.

The incompetent dynamic duo.

I guess I’ll get a lot done on Sundays. I will not spend another dollar on the Steelers until he’s gone. I don’t care if he leaves, gets fired or dies. My financial support for the Steelers officially ends today.

3 more years

Knew it was probably coming. And it still hurts!!
If it was a years extension, I'd be OK cause that might mean they didn't want to lame duck him before he retires or gets kicked upstairs..(sigh!) Now it looks like 10 wins will get another 10 years of NHALS Mike. If he gets to pick our next potential franshise QB, we'll get some midget who needs fathering..lol

Someone ask Art if Tomlin's jizz tastes like Heinz pickles when he comes in his mouth.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

Devastating. Just devastating to the organization, the fans, and the city.

Mike Tomlin is who is he. He's capable of winning a SB, but he needs immense talent at all levels including a HOF QB. I had a glimmer of hope this offseason that Rooney was trying to light a fire, but now he's just back to his old mediocre self.

Most of us here have said that Tomlin will never be fired. He'll have to leave on his own.

Calm down, we all knew this was happening when Mason got Tomlin’s bacon out of the fire, winning the last three loseable games. At least Tomlin, Omar and Weidl seem to be functioning well—look at the last two drafts. And Arthur Smith is a competent OC, not a laughable joke.
