In a perverse way, we'd be better off in the long run if Boswell tore his ACL in practice this week and the Steelers actually had to try to score TDs the rest of the season. Boswell is the ultimate enabler of Tomlinball. Let's see Tomlin adapt to not having a kicker who's automatic at 55 yards.Jobu wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:33 pmI just have to laugh if you think that the offense is gonna be any different with Russ. What we saw today is exactly what Tomlin wants from the QB. 150-200ish yards, take care of the ball, control the clock. Who needs TDs?
Today’s game was a Mike Tomlin wet dream.
That’s what I was about to add. Wilson is the better choice under a real NFL offense and coordinator. Under Tomlin, Fields might be better because he can run. Neither will throw it down the field consistently or attack the middle of the field. It’s all small ball.Jobu wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:33 pmI just have to laugh if you think that the offense is gonna be any different with Russ. Right, I'm generally confused by those who are raving over Fields' 200 total yard, 0 TD performance today. He was ok, but he didn't even look that great on his runs- he didn't run any better than mid-career Ben. He looked better than KP and Mitch looked last season, but that's certainly damning with faint praise.Mick wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:36 pmI don’t particularly expect to see things improve dramatically with Wilson, but he has a long term track record as one of the top QBs in the NFL and Fields gas a long term track record as one of the worst QBs in the NFL. And I didn’t see anything today that made me optimistic about Fields.
Hope you feel the same next week and Wilson can't run at all and is no threat to run when things break down. When he's taking a sack-fumble that'll be great.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:38 pmRight, I'm generally confused by those who are raving over Fields' 200 total yard, 0 TD performance today. Hopefully Russ can take a snap without fumbling it. And maybe Russ can be on target with his short throws, unlike JF was today. But the truth is they probably both suck.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:43 pmHope you feel the same next week and Wilson can't run at all and is no threat to run when things break down. Art Smith, Matt Canada, Randy Fichtner, Todd Haley…no matter. There is one common denominator…well, maybe two. There’s a reason why BA and his throw it downfield philosophy got canned and it wasn’t because Ben was getting hit.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:39 pmArthur Smith better show something fast because he just looks like Matt Canada at this point with these dogshit play designs and stupid conservative calls.

You mean the bad exchange he easily fell on?

The ball shot forward three and a half yards and he did manage to get it back but that is the very definition of coming close to turning the ball over.K_C_ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:55 pmYou mean the bad exchange he easily fell on?
Didn't he take it for a 3 yard gain or am I thinking of another play?
Also, they had no more center exchange issues after that.
There were two bad exchanges in a row to start the game.K_C_ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:55 pmYou mean the bad exchange he easily fell on?

Hey, it was a 3 yard gain…which is probably what they would’ve had from the usual game opening Najee plunge into the line!

Not sure if you’re drinking or what but he’s nowhere fucking near Matt Canada this offense, the schemes some of the plays that were drawn up were fucking light years ahead of Matt Canada.
On what QB to start; I’ve been on the Rus Wilson train and if he sucks and we suck, switch to Fields.
With Rus hurt, I’d rather stick to Fields now for at least 2-4 weeks and see what he can do. If he starts to click and can manage wins, keep him in. If he struggles and makes it look official, he wouldn’t return, put Russel in and draft a QB next yr. If he “saves our season” and plays well, try and sign him for 2-3 more yrs and still draft a QB.
No need to tell me, I know I’m right.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:58 pmRiiiiiiight…Thrillsseeker wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:48 pmOrangesteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:39 pmArthur Smith better show something fast because he just looks like Matt Canada at this point with these dogshit play designs and stupid conservative calls.

270 yards and no touchdowns. Multiple plays on third down to get 3-4 yards to make the FG closer instead of aggressive play calling to try and move the sticks.
But sure, nothing like Matt Canada. You are right.
Yep, Fields has always had fumble issues and with a rookie center, that’s a recipe for disaster so that’s fair. I’ll take that one fuck up by Fields on the first play of the season vs Cousins trying to turn it over about 8 times.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:56 pmThe ball shot forward three and a half yards and he did manage to get it back but that is the very definition of coming close to turning the ball over.
For a whole half of football, it was more than they gained per pass!Jobu wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:57 pmHey, it was a 3 yard gain…which is probably what they would’ve had from the usual game opening Najee plunge into the line!![]()
