It was much different than Pickens'

Initially ruled incomplete because Wilson got only one foot down, the Jets won a replay challenge after officials ruled that his left shin landed inbounds in the back of the end zone. Based on the rules, one shin equals two feet.

I thought it was his right, my bad.

One foot and then the same shin equals a TD?
One foot and then the same foot does not equal a TD?

Probably in the rules, but...

If Pickens makes that catch, one foot, then same foot down again..........then stands there like a pelican for 10 seconds.......
whistle does not blow....
defenders rolled out of bounds and they are looking at the big screen replay....
Pickens eats a snickers.....

To me, his knee, which came down essentially the same time his shin did, landed out of bounds.

That should not have been a catch, imo

Jets beating Texans was a huge boost to Colts, KC, Buff, Balt Pitt.

Also a testament to how much better PS defense is compared to Hou.

Guess they felt the shin landed a millisecond in bounds before the knee landed OOB’s.

GP catch wasn’t a TD. Can we move on?

In my 40 some years of watching football, I have never heard of "shin" being a relevant body part for completing a catch.

John Madden had his trope: 1 knee equals 2 feet

Again I have literally never heard of shin being an important qualifier of a catch. Methinks the NFL wanted the Jets to win and put their thumb on the scale with this review

Although I am loathe to change rules ever

This one is easy

Any body part comes down inbounds it’s a catch

Why is that a good rule ??

Eliminates confusion and judgement calls

Picken's catch was definitely not in bounds

I don't think this was, either

I'm with you on, "any body part", but if another body part lands out of bounds, simultaneously, that should be ruled incomplete.

I'm not at all clear on how a shin can come down "before" a knee, given general human anatomy.

anywho-

The Entertainment League that has a boat load of money invested in one of the top gambling sites, will continue on.

Edit: Clarifying my comment regarding a shin coming down prior to a knee

Given that your shin is essentially connected to your knee, the lower part of your shin can certainly come down prior to the upper part of your shin and therefore the knee

I suppose this is like saying one end of your forearm can come down before your elbow

But if we are going to start qualifying that my lower shin came down inbound before my upper shinbone came down out of bounds, you might as well say my heel came down inbounds before my toes came down out of bounds

It’s pretty fucking stupid in my opinion

Pickens was not in bounds.

Wilson was since 1 shin is = two feet. That’s the rules.

ARTICLE 3. COMPLETED OR INTERCEPTED PASS

A player who makes a catch may advance the ball. A forward pass is complete (by the offense) or intercepted (by the defense) in the field of play, at the sideline, or in the end zone if a player, who is inbounds:

secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and
touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands
; and
after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, performs any act common to the game (e.g., tuck the ball away, extend it forward, take an additional step, turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so.

Changing to the college one foot rule makes a lot more sense than banning the cover-2 or other dumb Mel Kiper ideas.

Absolutely. The fact eliminating or banning cover 2 has even been discussed is full on stupid. Absurd, concerning, I could go on.

May just as well put dresses on em. (Heard that somewhere before)

Dipping their toes into the future National Flag Football League to see people’s reaction maybe?

I’m extremely clear Pickens wasn’t in

Not sure why people keep saying this

Pickens being out of bounds has zero to do with Wilson’s catch, which should have also been incomplete, imo.

or, "may as well let WRs line up 25 yards downfield or implement the soccer offside rule, but only for DBs"

The shin knee shoulder any body part other than foot or hand equals two feet. The fact that his foot touched down is irrelevant.
