Did you not see Russ dropping balls right on his receivers hands the past month? He’s been the most accurate deep ball thrower in the league since he came back.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:49 amCome on dude. In the snow and wind, you think Russ will just drop it in. He's had a few stinker Moon Balls these last couple of games that were not on target. How about roll JF out, have Muth do a drag route and make the D commit to one or the other. JF can beat any LB to the corner on the wide side of the field.Steelperch wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:33 amYou are correct. Moronic play call. Bad location with the pass. Russ probably drops it in.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:31 am3-4 and you have Firlds throw deep when you needed 4 yards to seal the game

What we are saying is that if you’re going to throw deep you use Wilson and not Justin. But that should never been the call when you needed 4 yards to win.

I get it. Why should Tomlin, his staff, and his players get rewarded for this piece of shit effort. If you don’t rub the dogs nose in it, he’ll keep shitting on your rug. Or in your bed, in this case.
steelmann58 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:51 amWell I am expecting Cinny to bomb away at us next Sunday
The Steelers are going to fall hard the rest of the way, limp into the playoffs, and get annihilated at some point in the playoffs by an actual contender, per usual.
We all know how this movie ends.
I'm expecting a double digit loss to the Bengals.
I want to get off Mr. Bones' wild ride.

3 losses to Dallas at home. To Clev today and the other vs Indy.

It’s like Tomlin and Smith think they have this certain type of offense…
and the rest of the free world see an entirely different thing. I’m at a loss, really.

They have to find two wins out of 5 before the last game of the year vs CIN. Otherwise they could be playing for their playoff lives or at least playing to not be the 7 seed.tbsteel wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:25 am
Sounds about right.
It'll all depend on the matchup. I think we'd be somewhat respectable against the Chargers for a coin flip game, and would probably beat the Broncos. The Bengals would take care of business against us (just wait until next week for a preview). A team like the Bills or Chiefs would just annihilate us per our usual 40+ point playoff blowouts in recent years.
Those 5 games:
CIN
CLE
PHI
BAL
KC
Do you see 2 wins there? I see one (probably blow out CLE next time). Are they going to outscore CIN? Overcome a solid Philly team in their house of horrors? Win the BAL revenge game? Beat KC on a short week?
Not good.

Not going to call grounding when the QB is being hit as he throws.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:27 amThat's exactly right...shoulda been 4th & 12 w 53 yard attemptThrillsseeker wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:13 amDumblin.

Absolutely this league is riddled with bullshit. Illegal touching the pass by the o-lineman? Gtfoh. That was intentional grounding and they fucking know it.
Manipulation at its finest.

In all seriousness B2B, I know in the game threads here I like to goof around and have fun poking the bear so to speak with the diehards who still live and die with every up and down of this team, but I'm so over Tomlin. The only realistic way he goes is if he gets humbled enough to where he can't ignore the obvious anymore. And I have no qualms rooting for that humbling to take place.
I'm a Kentucky basketball fan, and we had a similar situation with John Calipari. He got lazy and complacent. He was stuck in his ways and too arrogant to change. He chastised the fans for being "basketball Benny's" and that they should stay in their lane. He tried to get his son Brad hired on as an assistant (his son literally has the phrase "Earned Not Given" tattooed across his chest, no joke) and hired all his old buddies as assistants with an actual x's and o's coach worth a damn running for the hills. He put little effort into the SEC Tournament despite tons of UK fans planning those trips out a year in advance to go down and support the team. His teams consistently would tighten up late in games. He was so lazy he wouldn't even install out of bounds plays until later in the season. He had a great run 8+ years ago but was just coasting as a lazy, arrogant, washed up fool. Fortunately, the heat from the fans got hot enough that he hit the road, and now he's posted up at Arkansas where he can coast more and be even lazier (but at least he was able to hire his son Brad as he wanted to at UK).
And UK went out and brought in a former player from the '96 championship team who just has an amazing basketball mind and is genuinely a super smart dude with an incredible work ethic. The dude was in medical school after his NBA career and was ready to graduate when he decided that he wanted to get into coaching, and basically started as a glorified towel boy at Georgia making pennies. And I'm telling you, it's night and day. The offensive sets they're running this year, the cohesion, their preparation and execution... man it's awesome to see and super exciting.
That could be the Steelers.
Tomlin isn't hungry anymore. He's not changing his ways. He's the exact same coach he was 5 years ago. He's not growing. He's not challenging himself or those around him, he's not looking in the mirror at his weaknesses and trying to improve. It's over.
Imagine if the Steelers brought in a young, hungry, sharp x's and o's offensive mind and paired it with a veteran DC with the dogs and culture we have on defense? That could be an actual scary team.
But the post-Big Ben Steelers are paper tigers. Wilting violets. And this year will end the same as last year, and the year before, and the year before. Because nothing is changing until Tomlin is gone.
I want to get off Mr. Bones' wild ride.

I think there was a better chance it would be reviewed to a fumble, which would have taken the ball back to the spot of the fumble.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:30 amThey won’t call grounding if the QB is hit when he’s throwing.
We are actually lucky we got the 5 yards there.
Super frustrating because if he ISNT hit it 100 percent is grounding.

Not good.
Maybe Philly? They're super talented but that team has been off all year. But then again, Philly tends to own Tomlin.
So realistically, I see a loss next week to Cincy, and ho-hum victory at home against Cleveland that satiates the fans for a bit, but then losses to Philly, Baltimore, and then KC on Christmas. 9-7 going into the last week is definitely possible and seems the most realistic scenario.

But but but. He’s going to get a 1000 yards! They may have to give it to him 275 times in 17 games but he’ll get there!tbsteel wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:37 amYPC now at 3.9 yards on the year.
Of the 29 players in the league with 100+ carries, that's 26th of 29, and literally 2 yards away from being 27th.
Dude is going to RAKE in FA though. Teams are foaming at the mouth to bring in big nasty Naj and let him RUN WILD.

But where are they gonna find those two wins? Maybe if CIN is eliminated before the last week, but otherwise I struggle to see two wins the rest of the way without a serious upset.

If we actually had a legitimate good starting RB, we would have put up some huge rushing #s the past few weeks. Our OL was starting to get pretty nasty up front with Seumalo rounding back into form and Jones starting to play with some passion and drive to go along with how well Frazier and McCormick have been doing. There were some huge ass holes the past couple of weeks especially.
But Najee is literally the lowest ceiling starting RB in the league. Block up a play that could go for 30+ and he'll maybe get you 8-10. Block up a play for 4 and he'll get you 4 or 5 tough yards, or he'll hop jump behind the LOS, run into his lineman's ass, or try to get outside like he used to be able to do at Bama and go down near the LOS.
Pleasantly surprised the Steelers declined his 5th year and decided to move on. He's just not it and we've literally wasted 4 years handing this dude the rock damn near 300 times a season for some of the most below average, inefficient RB play you'll see.
He's built like a tank and doesn't fumble. God bless him. But we'll never have a good running game that any defense has to be concerned with as long as he's in the backfield.
