You have to figure even if Tomlin wants his Boy Austin to stay Khan will make him fire him at the end of the season. Keeping Austin over Flores is an epic fail just like when he kept Canada too long. I wonder if Smith will stay around or look to move on? I really hope a crazy owner like Jones or Johnson will go all out to bring Tomlin to their team because Art will never fire this guy.

I don't honestly think Tomlin would go to any other franchise, even if they offered him $100 million per year! He would sooner retire! Why? I think Tomlin knows who he is and knows he couldn't coach anywhere else - his flaws would be severely evident! He has it good here - the owner gives him plenty of blow jobs and turns the cheek to anything and everything that is bad with the teams coaching. No, Tomin would be exposed for the true fraud as a coach he is - no way he ever leaves unless fired (which will never happen) or retires.

As for Smith and Austin, they should just stay put - why fire either one of them. This team is run the way Tomlin wants it run, period If they are fired, we will just go out and get to other has beens and neuter them into Tomlin ball. So, might as well just keep them and keep Steeler Nation in purgatory!

As long as the Steelers are playing Martyball they are not going anywhere fast.

I would blame the offense more than the defense on this lose unless you expected the defense to hold KC to 9 points.

I love how people keep blaming Austin for the defense.

It's as if they haven't read this board, or the PPG, the last several years and don't realize it is and has been Tomlin's defense.

Oh, it's both Offense and Defense. Vs Philly & Baltimore, it was largely about the talent differential. KC game they were seriously out-strategized and out-coached. Plus, it has to be obvious now that TJ Watt is nowhere near healthy, and I don't even mean his ankle. I would rather see the other 3 give it their all for 60 than watch TJ try to play when he can't do his usual stuff. We know the ankle is less than 100%, he has a thumb injury that keeps him from gripping with both hands... who knows what else is happening with him.

But, as I've been saying for what seems like forever now: thess biggest problems they have are the Head Coach's mentality about how to plan for and play the games and the ownership's buy in because they think coaching continuity and running the shit out of the ball with a paper tiger defense is "The Steeler Way".

It's really hard to fix that with a gung-ho young GM, FA signings, trades, or anything play-related.

Why would you go to another place where the boss actually holds you accountable?
