Snap Counts vs KC
Posted: Thu Dec 26, 2024 5:25 pm
Snapaddicts,
"And you know who you are".........
I do not know how this happened.....
75 offensive snaps for the Steelers.........to 62 for KC.
Maybe it was the 13 play drive to end the game?
Including 5 carries by Najee, to make sure we get him over 1,000 yards for the season.
Was it the 39 second half snaps that resulted in a total of 3 points, for the entire second half of football.
More offensive snaps in 10 of 16 games. ( Giants, Dallas, Clev ( tie ) Philly & Balt. )
Won snap count battle for first time in four weeks.
Someone is hanging their hat on that in their office this morning.
Won the time of possession battle for the 11th time in 16 games. ( Giants & Dallas, Philly, Ravens, tied Clev. )
31:22 for the Steelers.
First time winning T.O.P. battle in 4 weeks......
The Steelers ran for 202 yards on the ground and held KC to 69.
Someone is hanging their hat on that in their office this morning.
Don't blink, attrition football.
They ran for 66 yards in the last 2 drive, down 19 points......
As the Steelers uncovered a new formula for striking quick to get back into a game..........running 8 times.
How on earth could any team score 19 points in 6 1/2 minutes in todays day and age.
Once again, three straight weeks, Tomlin punts in the 4th quarter, down double digits.
Yesterday, down 19, 6 minutes left, on our own 22, 4th and 2.
Not down 7, not down 10.....
Not 4th and 8, not 4th and 12, not 4th and 15.
I know his exact thought process.
If we don't convert here, KC get ball back inside our 25 and likely gets points, gets to 30+
Even with a hold and a FG.
32-10.....looks a lot worse than 29-10
How about this decision.
10:05 left in 4th quarter.
Down 29-10
4 and 20 at KC 42
59 yard FG attempt or go for it on 4th and 20?
Russell Wilson pass incomplete deep left intended for George Pickens.
Mike tried a FG from 58 in the snow and wind vs Cleveland on that Thursday nite mess.
A FG makes it a 2 score game? 29-13.
Offense
75 snaps.
Russ 60
Russ 6-4 record. 197-305, 64.6%, 2334 yds, 15 TD, 5 INT, 97.4. QBR, 39 for 139 on the ground, 1 TD
Fields 4-2 record. 106 -161, 65.8%, 1106 yds, 5TD, 1 INT, 93.3 QBR, 61 for 281 on the ground, 5 TD
Russ numbers project to less than 4,000 yards passing in a full 17 game season, with 25 TDs
OL
3 of 5 OL all 75 snaps.
Moore -68
Seumalo -63 ( he get dinging? - more likely out of the game for that last 12 play come back drive )
Spencer Anderson - 13
Sharping - 7
Assuming Anderson played both LT and LG?
He was in as tackle eligible as well.
WRs
Pickens - 68 ( 3 for 50, 7 targets )
Austin - 56 ( 4 for 31, 5 targets ) has he been the most consistent and reliable WR in 2024? Played all 16 games. 36-548, 4 TDs
Van - 32 ( 0 on 1 targets ) Your designated #2 at the start of the season is 21 for 258 in 16 games.
I hope Roman Wilson learned his lesson....
Let this be another example of Tomlin loving his guys...........in spite of winning match-ups, 1st downs, moving chains, spreading the defense, adding speed.
M. Williams -32 ( 0 on 2 targets ) 12 targets in 8 games. 8 catches for 107 yards and that TD...ohh soo long ago.
Scotty Miller - 10 ( no targets in 10 snaps )
Roman Wilson - DNP -
Skowroneck - DNP, missed his blocking skills, while running for a season high 202 yards.
Roman Wilson and his 4.39 - 40...... sits in the dog house.
Better luck next year.
Not enough time left in the season to work your way in and get some of the Van Jefferson and Scotty "No" snaps.
RBs
Warren - 40 - 11 for 71, 6.5 avg. 5 for 41 on 6 targets.
Najee - 34 - 13 for 74, 5.7 avg. 2 catches on 4 targets for 7
Najee ran for 53 of his 74 yards in the final two, come from behind, attack mode drives....
In which Tomlin threw dahn the white flag and KC defenders were playing to close the game, to not get hurt, while utilizing a technique of lowering #22 to the ground until the echo of the whistle being blown.
With 29 yards rushing on Sunday, Najee will finish the season with 1036 yards
after rushing for 1035 in 2023,
and after rushing for 1034 in 2022.
JW - 114 for 490, 4.3 avg., 1 TD, 38 catches - 310, 8.2 avg.
NH - 251-1,007, 4.0 avg. 5 TD, 32 for 263, 8.2
After 16 weeks, I do not think defenses and opposing coaches notice the slowed down pace, heavy packages and predictable play calling when Najee is in the game.
I think the rest of the NFL world recognizes the difference in the play, temp, spark....with Warren on the field.
Patterson - 1 snaps. 1 carry for 2 yards.
And in possibly Tomlins most embarrassing call of the season....
The Steelers, after going down 13-0 after one quarter of embarrassing football,
After righting the ship and scoring an NFL TD to make it 13-7.
After forcing KC to punt with 6 minutes to the half,
After building some momentum,
After moving the ball close to midfield with less than 3 minutes to the half,
After getting the festive home town crowd back on its feet,
After living rooms around the country tune in on Netfliz.......as Steelers fans around the world get a chance to watch their Steelers, from New York and New Jersey, to New Zealand, to New Guinea....................
We hand the ball to 57 year old Patterson on 3rd and 3.................
YGTBFKM.
That's You Got To Be Fucking Kidding Me....
for the Acronymously Oblivious........... and Swiss.
Do you know who knew.... who was getting the ball on that play, long before they broke huddle?
The KC staff and the KC defensive players on the field............and, and,
Those who read the weekly Snap Count thread.
Because, when old man Patterson is on the field......there is a 45-50% chance the play is designed for him to get the ball.
102 offensive snaps.
45 carries, targets and catches. - 44.1 % rate
touches the ball or targeted 44% of time he is on the field.
Making defenders smarter.
Making my staff dumber with each game.
Those Patterson snap counts do not include his 11 kick returns for 240 yards, and 21.8 avg.
including a long of 33 yards, as we incorporate the slowest kick returner since 1944, the War years.
Michael knew he needed a War Time Consigliere.
We do not need a War Time Kick returner.
End rant on this horrible offense scheme, play design, play calling, player personnel usage........
Oh wait....the TEs'
TEs
Mooth -45, 7 for 60 yards, 8 targets, 1 bad fumble inside Pitt 40, led to KC TD.
57 catches for 568 yards, 10.0, on 67 targets, 85.% highest % of his career ( 75.9, 64.3, 68.1 )
6 TDs on the year
Darnell - 26, ( 1 catch for 8 yards, on 1 target )
His catch yesterday was the type of pass play that I have been yelling for all year,
chip, shed, run straight for 5-6 yards, turn catch, turn pick up a few more.
at 6'-7" and 290-300....defenders would need to run thru his back to break up the play.
That should be available 2 or 3 times a game.
Nice first down plays from their beloved heavy set.
3 targets in 4 weeks ) Anyone else feel cheated when we do not get to see him make a catch and rumble down field?
This guy is a weapon that underused, is not used, may be the only guy Russ can spot over the middle.
Is he a 50+ catch TE playing in an NFL offense?
Co. Heyward - 21. YGTBFKM........( 1 for 8 on 1 target )
21 snaps. Twenty One. He was on the field for 28% of the offensive snaps.
How many CCA players, Coaches Choice Award, can the Steelers really put on the field at one time.
We do know we can only put 5 skill players plus the QB on the field at one time.
Pruit - 10, ( no targets )
Sub-optimizing Offense 101.
73 snaps from Van, and Scotty, Heyward and Pruit
DEFENSE
Only Minka and Queen all 62 snaps.

Sutton - 43 ( 3 solo, 1 PD )
Kazee - 16 ( nada )
Beanie Bishop- 0 - ST's only
Killebrew -0 - ST's only
Dline
Cameron Heyward - 50 ( 2 + 2 = 4, 1 QBH, 1 TFL )
Keeanu Benton -38 ( 1 + 1 = 2 ) they coach the nasty out of this guy?
Larry OG - 20 ( 2 + 1 = 3 )
Adams - 13 ( 1assit ) this guy used to penetrate in his first year.
Loudermilk - 6 ( 1 assist )
Lowry - DNP -
FIRST or SECOND round DL.
Remember the lack of penetration from the DL
FIRST or SECOND round DL.
Remember how Benton no longer wrecks centers and no longer collapses the pocket.........has been coached to concede.
FIRST or SECOND round DL.
Cam will be closer to 37 than 36, this time next Christmas.
The PS registered No sacks and only 2 QB hits.....after NO QB hits vs Ravens.
The 3 game Gauntlet ..........A total of 7 QB hits. Brutal.
Poor.
Piss poor.
Not enough hits on the QB.

The Wizard of Boz
1 for 1 on FGs. 1 for 1 XPs
I do not consider a block a miss.....unless kick is low or slow.
40 for 43 FGs
33 for 33 XPs
Team MVP
Has missed only 3 out of 76 total kicks this year......62 and 58 yarders and a block
No longer on record breaking pace to tie most FGs in a season. ( 44 )
4 FG game ties the record.
12 of 14 from 50+
Hot shot new comer, Dallas kicker Aubrey, is 14 of 16 on 50+ ( 36 for 42 on season )
Waitman.
4 punt - 44.5 avg. long of 58
Clutch hang time for the fair catch on the Tomlins 4th and 2 punt with 6 minutes left in game, down 19.
Been aces this year.
One bad punt?
Don't get snappy with me.......unless your talking Steelers football.
