I do not know how this happened.....

75 offensive snaps for the Steelers.........to 62 for KC.
Maybe it was the 13 play drive to end the game?
Including 5 carries by Najee, to make sure we get him over 1,000 yards for the season.

Was it the 39 second half snaps that resulted in a total of 3 points, for the entire second half of football.

More offensive snaps in 10 of 16 games. ( Giants, Dallas, Clev ( tie ) Philly & Balt. )
Won snap count battle for first time in four weeks.
Someone is hanging their hat on that in their office this morning.

Won the time of possession battle for the 11th time in 16 games. ( Giants & Dallas, Philly, Ravens, tied Clev. )
31:22 for the Steelers.

First time winning T.O.P. battle in 4 weeks......

The Steelers ran for 202 yards on the ground and held KC to 69.
Someone is hanging their hat on that in their office this morning.

His worry of leaving too much time on the clock for an opponent always comes at the expense of sub-optimizing offense.
Leaving less time for opponent is more of a concern over actually scoring points in this thick, obtuse skull of his.

The Patterson thing is definitely weird. He literally is providing no value to this team. Tomlin thinks he does because “he can play multiple positions”, but he sucks at all of them. So that’s not useful.

As for playcalling, I’m a huge proponent of being intelligently aggressive. Whether it’s choosing a play to call on 3rd and 3 or deciding if you want to go for it on 4th and 5.

The problem is this team is so unbelievably bad at executing any single play, that I have no hope of converting those downs no matter what we call.

Yes, I 100% agree that we shouldn’t be plunging the ball up the middle every damn time it’s 3rd or 4th and less than 5.

But if you asked me what I thought our odds of converting those downs was if we did try something else, I’d say “not much”.

Other teams scheme guys open for short yardage plays so damn easy. Yet we make every play look like success is purely by happy accident.

A big part of it is that our WRs suck out loud in these situations. And I’m not just talking about everyone other than Pickens. If he we wants to be a true top tier WR, then he needs to consistently make the 5 yard catches look as easy as the 40 yard catches.

None of that is the excuse play calling. I’ll raise my hand without shame and say that even though I didn’t like the hire, I gave me optimism early in the season to the point where I defended him.

But as is so often the case with the Tomlin regime, he never evolved. He never got better. He never added any twists to keep other teams off his scent. We do the same damn game plan every game then wonder why we get out asses kicked late in the season when everyone under the sun knows our entire game plan by heart.

And he is the same coach he was last year, 4 years ago, 8, 10, 16 years ago.

Still thinks you can win games with attrition football.................and you can probably win 5, 6-7+ games a year that way.
Still thinks, playing it safe, keeping it close and winning it in the end with a FG....will win football games..... and you may win 6, 7-8+ games a year that way.
Still thinks if his team makes fewer mistakes, fewer turnovers, and waits for the opponent to make mistakes......is the formula for non-losing seasons. And it just very well may be.
Still thinks its all about execution and, its lack of execution on why plays fail.
Still thinks its mono on mono, out hit, out tuff, out bully the opponent.
Still does not think you need to win plays by scheme, deception, trickery and out smarting the opponent.

Still does not know the exact second, on when to call a time out.
Its instinct with me, with you....with most astute football followers, S.F. members, etc.
We yell time out the second a play is over.

Still does not value the clock.
Still does not realize you can not put time wasted ....back on the clock.

Its amazing how many people think this guys is a great head coach.

Thanksgiving, Christmas and the holidays brings all types of football fans around and their team and their perspective on football.

My brother, a 60 year old Jet fan asked me yesterday.
"How come everyone but you, loves Tomlin."

His son said he would trade the Jets 1st round pick for Tomlin, maybe 2 first round picks.

The guy is outcoached 12,13, 14+ games a year.
He loses more games on Tuesdays thru Saturdays with his game planning, scheme, player usage, etc....than any team in football.

18-19 straight games without an opening drive TD all starts with Tuesdays thru Saturdays,
when you identify an opponents team, players, weakness, strength, tendencies,....ways to attack, players to avoid, game plan for, etc.
And the coach who better prepared their team, will be the team that has the best chance of executing each and every play.

No one needs to pull up his recent playoff results as the pudding that's in the proof.

It's really mind boggling that he is still employed as a head coach. The only one worse is Marvin Lewis. Tomlin is signed through 2027, so hopefully by 2030 maybe 2029 the new regime turns things around.

the compilation of stats under this mediocre/below the bar operation is mind boggling.

Art 2 needs and intervention going on from his family members. Do they continue to pretend to fool most of the fanbase? (there are so many that are simply dumber than dirt not to see what they've been doing for 15 years now) - If Art's got any last straw left is the "Must win a playoff game" ultimatum from last offseason. Let's pray for the next drubbing and the internal fire starts on removing Tomlin and Art 2 stepping aside for new blood, blood that cares about Football. (lets hope on Dan Rooney Jr (Art2's Bro) & Dan Martin Rooney (Art2's son) - being ready to take over the ship)

I agree with Lipps; if Tacobelle Patterson sucks at every phase they want to use him in, how exactly is that helpful?

"Hey he can play multiple positions"

"Can he play any of them well?"

"He's ok at Special Teams"

"Ok pencil him in for 20% of the offensive snaps this week"

And in possibly Tomlins most embarrassing call of the season....

After moving the ball close to midfield with less than 3 minutes to the half,

After living rooms around the country tune in on Netfliz.......as Steelers fans around the world get a chance to watch their Steelers, from New York and New Jersey, to New Zealand, to New Guinea....................

Connor on the field for 28% of the snaps............is just mind boggling.
Like you guys said.
He is not very good at any of the multiple positions he plays.
He is not a receiving threat.....as most of his catches are at the line of scrimmage.
He is not a fast TE.
He is not a big TE, at 6'-0" 230.
He is a short TE.
He is not a quick twitch player.
He is not an inline blocking TE....too small.
He is not effective in that HB spot, going in motion and cutting up thru guards to make a block.
Seems like he is late or blown up time after time.
He is NOT a FB.....as I when I see him lined up at FB on 3rd or 4th and 1.......I have zero confidence in his block being the one that helped convert the down. He does not have that quick twitch burst a FB should have.

How on earth does Tomlin think 21 snaps to C.H. vs KC is part of a winning formula.
Over giving 21 snaps....or 15 to Roman Wilson.

The Roman Wilson Saga is mystifying.

How would the speed of Roman Wilson and Austin, paired with Pickens look running thru the secondary.

Always will.

How many times after big turnovers, takeaways, plays, etc...
Will they revert back to heavy package, tight set, hand-off to the back, to run up the ass of our OL.....because the predictable play calling and pattern, has 11 defenders, running thru 9 blockers.
