Ravens already gloating and calling their shots - Pickens

So we know there is an attack angle for Dumblin to rally the troops for the impending beatdown....... hmmmmm

Ravens players throw shade at heated rival George Pickens while trying out Lamar Jackson's latest unisex cologne, Night Lights.

The situation arose thanks to the Ravens locker room trying out Lamar Jackson’s newest fragrance, Night Lights. In a since viral quote, Jackson explained the concept behind a unisex cologne and his preference for soft smells.

“People may not know this about me, but I’d rather prefer girl perfume, like something real soft,” Jackson said. “So that’s what made me want to create something unisex, instead of just all about us men. I was like, man, I like to smell like a female sometimes, so get something that can be in between.”

On Monday, Baltimore gave the fragrance a shot. With notes of neroli, cinnamon bark, incense, papyrus, amber, and sandalwood, it was certainly more soft and feminine than the typical men’s cologne.

Immediately, names like Kyle Hamilton, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor rejected the scent, claiming it wasn’t for them. However, the Baltimore Banner’s video caught the conversation going on in the background of the video.

While Travis Jones was giving it a try, someone could be heard saying, “It smells like George Pickens,” to which another player answered, “Soft? Yeah smells just like that.” Given the vitriol and heated rivalry between the two sides, it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility that the players had a grudge against Pickens.

Love it. Bengals signing Renegade at Heinz Field, losing to the lowly 3 win Browns, Ravens talking trash on the team before they hang 40 points in a playoff blowout. You really gotta love this! Mass embarrassment is the only thing that might bring some change to the HC. And that’s still a long shot.

Yep. I hope one of the Ravens players walks over to Pickens during warmups and hands him a bottle of it.

Pickens will inevitably start a fight and get ejected. Then we lost by 40+ with the chaos and stupidity taking center stage for a national audience.

As you said, chances of any organizational changes being triggered by that are still low. But if we're never going to fix anything, then I want the drama on full display.

Honestly a dumb move by the Ravens. Talk your trash AFTER you whip these losers.

Ever hear the phrase: let sleeping dogs lie?

Reminds me of the Max Talbot fight against the Flyers in 2009. Pens were dead in the water that game and Talbot knew he needed to fight to change the energy of the game. The idiot from the Flyers (think it was Car Bomb) willingly engaged Talbot and the Pens overcame a 3 goal deficit to win the game/series.
If Carcillo declines to engage, we may not have that 2009 Cup.

They ain't lying, Pickens is soft as baby doo-doo mentally. I think teams know going in, that all they have to do is get in his head and he is done.

They ain’t wrong. Not even close to being wrong.

Certainly would not have said that bout Hines Ward.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Expect Cordoba Patterson to be heavily involved.

The question isn't why is Pickens such an immature diva.

The question is why in the fuck is every WR (and most RBs) who comes through the Steelers an immature diva...who gets worse with time. Brown didn't start out that way.

When every girlfriend you dated in the past twenty years is a "flake", they're not the problem, you're the problem. You're making them into flakes or tolerating it or rejecting solid characters. Or maybe you can't even recognize character.

So what's next? Trade him than draft two more and then rinse, lather repeat.

Hines (except one preseason) and Plax Thigpen didn't have these issues BTW. Or Swann or Stallworth or Lipps. Hmm, what is the independent variable here? Let's ask Rich Eisen, he's a football genius, maybe he can figure it out.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.

While I agree with your overall premise, AB was indeed always this way.
Look up what people said about him as a boy and then growing up. The dude had a bad childhood but survived on his work ethic and natural talent.
Once he got his big payday, the real AB stood up and it was ugly AF.

Steelers knew what they were getting with him. He was a ticking time bomb who eventually exploded. I can't put the blame solely on Tomlin with him.

But back to your general theme, I agree with it. List all the guys who come in with a ton of promise as rookies: Claypool, Harris, JPJ, B Jones, Benton, etc.

They all either: a) regress as sophomores or b) stagnate after their rookie year

Our player development has sucked for a looong time, at almost every position. WR was a nice exception up until a few years ago, and they've had decent results at olb recently, but everything else?

Gotta think this might be the reason Colbert always reached for need in early rounds. If you don't get close to finished products, our coaches aren't going to get them there.

Yeah development seems to be at an all time low and I really think it’s a league wide and college wide issue.

Ice, you can perhaps relate to this as a fellow educator.

The most effective teachers are those that are hands on.

Can’t be all like “Ditto” in the movie Teachers and just throw a bunch of worksheets at the kids and expect them to learn.

Model

Demonstrate how to successfully complete the task at hand.

Down here in Georgia, Kirby Smart is the ultimate snake oil salesman.

The only thing he's developed is his line of bullshit all centered around recruiting.

X’s and O’s are secondary

Player development is nothing but a gum on the shoe annoyance.

Your Steelers?

Chuck Noll was always fancied himself as a “teacher.”

Saw numerous interviews of him pontificating about how that was his favorite aspect of coaching.

Cowher always struck me as a hands on coach.

Think about the drafting philosophy back in the Cowher/Capers/Lebeau years.

Sure, there were instances when they drafted for need.

Troy Edwards a PAINFUL example of that.

In that same ‘99 draft though they landed Joey Sr and Aaron Smith who were groomed behind veteran players who similarly had to master that LeBeau defense (Man, that whole biding their time thing drove that Scunge fella crazy).

Who developed Hines Ward?

Kid was a jack of all trades type up the road in Athens.

SOMEONE on Cowher’s staff took his raw skills and transformed him into a lethal weapon at the wide receiver position.

Teachers like Noll, Cowher, and Lebeau are long gone.

Now we have Teryl Tomlin.

No Teaching

No Development

Just

A wing and a prayer
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."

Good point.

Mikey T likes him some developmental young men, to mold.

Clearly, he's a tremendous life coach to these receivers.

It’s because he had no fucking idea.

Couldn't have possibly stated it better. There are still a few around who are real hands on guys. I hate Cheatin' Jimmy Harbs' guts, but his fingerprints are all over every program he's been a part of. It's why he burns out fast and rubs GMs and ADs wrong.

I also agree that nationally NCAAF, particularly in the big leagues, has become way more about recruiting than developing. Oregon does a great job of it, though. Hartline at tOSU (homer, I know) gets top tier talent, but there's a reason. He coaches them hard. They're finished products and self starters by the time they hit the league. Harrison and Olave were 3 stars, btw. Who was the last WR bust from tOSU? I can name a couple others from Columbus.

Bill Callahan in Tennessee coaching OL for his son, but he's old school. I'm struggling a little naming many more. B2B could probably drop a few others from the pros, but there's fewer than in college.

On our team? Nonexistent. But Ice, Beanie came in as a UDFA and he's been great! Yeah, a UDFA with like 7 years of college experience who can basically coach himself.

I really do think our vet players, guys like Watt, Cam and Minkah may be doing more and better teaching than our coaching staff.

Wow, that was a 5 paragraph essay of a post. Cheers, Drama.

Edit: I'd argue that Pitt, while not sniffing 4 or 5 star recruits, does a pretty good job of making chicken salad, as well.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
