So this is why he didn't play.

I'm torn on this...the article makes it sound like McCormick was being a baby in refusing to play, but what if his injury was more than just a simple broken hand?

But there is smoke with this and the Pickens thing...

I'd be torn on that too. it is a business decision with short term and long-term implications potentially.

Maybe he did the team a favor. Maybe he knew his back-up's skill level and thought he was a better option.

Who is letting these little snipe nuggets get released too? Apparently Picken's late thing was on an NFL report.

Also the break...was the cast working to prevent pain and damage? One would be worthless if it couldn't do that. Was he borderline and because of treatment and a Saturday game....yadda yadda yadda.

I will give him a pass. I give Picken's a pass too. He had one bad game, and looks like an all pro in the rest when targeted. Lack of targets are his biggest problem. And the offensive woes of this team are a result of GP's lack of targets also.....that is why I give him a pass.

Tomlin refuses to be a coach so I guess they're even.

McCormick: What did you say our average 1st half deficit in playoff games was, again? Yeeeeaaah, I think I'm too hurt to play.

Don’t think this is a big deal. Think he backup stepped in did well maybe better than a Hurt Mason would have done.

Playing hurt is a given in pro sports. But they also know when they can play effectively and they have short careers to start with. I'm sure he took medical advice on this as well.

As I understand it he wanted to play without a cast, they wanted him to wear one. If he thought he’d hurt the team because he couldn’t use his hand, I side with the player.

Understood and agree

However IF it’s a case of merely refusing to play

He needs to be gone yesterday

Legit question.
Why the fuck would you put in any effort if you were playing for Tomlin. Maybe McCormick has seen what winners do and now he sees what the Pittsburgh Tomlins do and decided he didn't need any of that shit. He has 3 more years and he can cut a check and say peace from the terrorist known as Osama Bin Tomlin.

I've seen enough of McCormick to know that a) he has a nasty streak and b) he plays to the whistle and gives 100% effort. He impressed me as a rookie. Sure, he has to get a little stronger and also needs to learn a few more counter moves during a pass rush. That will come.

But, RG is not even something I'm thinking about when going through the list of problems on this team.

How about the fact that Broderick Jones refused to play football for most of his snaps this year -- constantly quitting half way through a pass rush or play? That's a much bigger concern.
