Using VR to Train
Using VR to Train
I imagine many of you saw the article, that discussed Jayden Daniels using VR glasses to train.
I was thinking about this-
Can you imagine using VR- with an on field perspective and running against the computerized version of the opponent?
It would let you see things from as close to real as possible, without being live.
From the perspective of the QB, that has to be invaluable. I would think this method would greatly expedite the development of QBs.
I hope they get Wilson and/or Fields using this method. Particularly Fields, because he's terrible at seeing the field.
Anyway- back to your regularly scheduled program

I think if Russ used VR to help him improve, anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:22 pmI imagine many of you saw the article, that discussed Jayden Daniels using VR glasses to train.

He would still not be able to see over the lineman and the middle of the field, when using the VR goggles
OTOH,
If Fields used it to improve,
He would see the pass rush sooner, and scramble sooner.

Dunce just choked on a sausage after seeing how much VR cost.I hope they get Wilson and/or Fields using this method. Particularly Fields, because he's terrible at seeing the field.
Nah. I’ve got a HOF HC to sort that stuff out. We don’t need it any fancy VR.
NBA pioneered this first, IIRC.
Teams would as part of their practice play games against virtual opponents.

Fields and Wilson would both go to Teryl Austin and Mike Tomlin and say "You know that super expensive defense we have? The VR defense we just went up against is 10x better than it".

This is the part that blew my mind and is absolutely genius:
Operating at 1.75x normal speed, the simulations challenge Daniels with scenarios faster than real gameplay. “Once you get out there, everything slows down,” Daniels shared. “I’ve seen this before, and it moved more than 20 times faster in VR.”

I have been advocating this for some time (I mentioned that I'd rather see Justin Fields doing this than him hitting the weight training.jeemie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:17 pmhttps://www.profootballnetwork.com/geni ... lifestyle/anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:22 pmI imagine many of you saw the article, that discussed Jayden Daniels using VR glasses to train.

It's also a great way to test CFB prospects. Combined with a chip-equipped NFL ball, you could actually track the ball placement & velocity in the sim. Someone should be setting this up for their QB's pro day.

Meanwhile over in Pittsburgh our guys are still trying to master the center/QB exchange and the safe check downs in front of the sticks.Operating at 1.75x normal speed, the simulations challenge Daniels with scenarios faster than real gameplay. “Once you get out there, everything slows down,” Daniels shared. “I’ve seen this before, and it moved more than 20 times faster in VR.”
Man this team is pathetic right now.

Then if you introduce AI into it, it'll monitor the QBs strengths and weaknesses to come up with a competent offense that we'd undoubtedly discard in favor of run-run-pass-punt.
Yeah, that is absolutely the most impactful aspect. It's sort of equivalent to practicing Hoops with a smaller rim.jeemie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:17 pmhttps://www.profootballnetwork.com/geni ... lifestyle/anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:22 pmI imagine many of you saw the article, that discussed Jayden Daniels using VR glasses to train.

Those being processing speed and seeing the field.jeemie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 5:17 pmhttps://www.profootballnetwork.com/geni ... lifestyle/anpsteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 2:22 pmI imagine many of you saw the article, that discussed Jayden Daniels using VR glasses to train.
