Rooney also said he didn't have any concerns about the Pickett draft pick. No recriminations? Nothing to learn at all? Nothing wrong with the scouting or approach?

How about the fact we consistently draft for NEED rather than BPA? How about we never trade back and acquire more draft capital?

OK Art is PISSED at Jim.

His response was curt and to the point "Jim's opinions are his own and I hope he has good luck selling his book".

That's a guy who's not getting invited to Art's home for the holidays. I am certain Art is trying to squash the controversy Jim kinda sorta raised with those comments.

I'm sure Art saw he and the Steelers get ripped by the sports pundits for Jim's comments.

Jesus.... how is any part of this "massive?"

We all already knew that he's not satisfied with no playoff wins but also thinks he can't do better than Tomlin. We also know that he let's Tomlin run pretty much everything.

What WOULD be massive would be if he announcement was the opposite of one of those two...

1) He now thinks he CAN find a better fit than Tomlin

or at minimum

2) They are limiting Tomlin's oversight a LOT .. maybe something like he continues to be the main BS spewer and motivate the players but no longer controls personnel decisions.

Hell.... even something like entirely pulling his responsibility for challenges and giving them to someone in the booth who can see replays before the flag is thrown.

Even that would be much bigger than any of this double speak.

Instead we get Charlie Brown's teacher .....wah-wah, wah-wah, wah-wah

Like I said, Andy Reid had a passable QB in Alex Smith, but the QB he wanted was in the 2016 draft so he went after him.

Andy Reid also built a culture. He got rid of KC's best defensive player, Marcus Peters, while Peters was still at All Pro caliber, because Peters was a malcontent.

Reid wanted smart players who were also disciplined.

Yeah it's so bad Poni and his partner were grasping at straws, saying that Rooney called Tomlin merely a "good coach" but not a great one, and that maybe this is Tomlin's last contract barring a miracle.

I agree wtih a staement above that the Steelers have boxed themselves into a corner they cant get out of with half measures -- they have bulilt an entire organziation on a series of myths and bullshit.

Cowher was openly warned despite building the very Brand (along with Noll) that they all feast off today. Noll was chased away ... that they wont do that with Tomlin is what I find mystifying. They wont even criticize him or simply force him to change?

I cannot believe for a minute they believe this nonsense about the AFC North and running the ball and stopping the run ... neither of which they can Do?

This is some Lewis Carroll absurd bullshit or Catch-22

The problem now is not that Tomlin is awful. The problem is that Tomlin is not awful, but woefully short of great. We’re going to keep barely missing or making the playoffs and never having any high draft picks or new philosophy.

We are the Pittsburgh Seinfeld’s. No change, no growth, no learning, total self absorption.

Lolololz

You dum dums thinking anything was gonna change

Lolololz

1 Tomlin has to get fired/retire. At least 2028 til that happens

2 Rooneys will hire a Tomlin clone and give him AT least two contracts before MAYBE they try something new and/or different

3. That means 2035-ish ?? Maybe. If we are lucky

yes, that's exactly what Rooney said. Said it's highly unlikely both will be back because both believe they are starting QBs and they likely wouldn't want to be out for the same job again in '25.

For anyone on here that is even thinking of rooting for wins and cheering this team on next September, you are part of the problem.

And if you're feeling nostalgic or just froggy and decide to pep up and start some rah-rah bullshit in the game threads, you better be ready to legit fight me one-on-one. I'll gladly meet up with anyone on here for some bare knuckle action in the parking lot outside of Aldi. You see this shopping cart here that I made my bitch? Imma make your lumbar spine even look worse.

Image

And I didn't even return it to the cart corral son.

And for the record, I fight dirty. I kick. I bite. I go for the balls. And yeah, so what if I get an awkward boner at some point? It's a rush. It is what it is. And afterwards, I'll gladly by you a drink and we can talk about life and the power of deep tissue massage therapy.

Unfortunately, TB, there's gonna likely be a couple or three weeks next year where I inevitably get suckered in if the season follows its usual cycle. Not sure I'm going in with my customary cautious optimism, though.

I'm not big on the game threads, anyway, though.

I’m not going to any games, buying any merchandise, or supporting them in any way aside from rooting for a spectacular embarrassment of a season. It’s the only thing that can spark a change. Any good Steelers fan should want them to implode massively next year. Nothing changes until Tomlin is gone. Tomlin isn’t gone without a huge failure season.

Nobody here thought anything would change.

Your post is essentially a summation of the thoughts of almost every poster here...well with the exception of your speculation of what might happen after Tomlin finally goes.

Funniest part of the interview was Rooney saying that his inbox has been quite full lately with fans bitching.

The asshats of Steelerfury may have something to do with that.

Whatever it is I plan to be disappointed. The only thing that would 1.) Rooney selling the team or 2.) Tomlin giving his resignation.

Thought about sending a message to Druckenmiller to reignite his interest in buying.
I regret that the Druckenmiller sale never materialized because:

1. The Steelers may have been legitimate and hasten in a new culture and
2. I would enjoy Swiss referring to him as Drunkenfuck.

The sad thing about being a Pittsburgh sports fan, the Penguins and the Pirates organizations are like this as well.
Penguins core is still old ass Crosby, Malkin and Letang. Fenway assholes own it and won't change.
Pirates owned by Nutting. Nutting will change (play on words).
