If they trade him, they'll end up with Cam Ward & Abdul Carter... plus future #1+. Way better off than they were last year.

Until the Steelers make at least SOME quantifiable shifts from who/where they are currently I’ve pretty much lost a lot interest in them and the NFL
Owner change
GM change
Coaching change
Draft transcendent rookie QB
Until AT LEAST one of those happens I am largely checked out
Waste of my time otherwise

When Kalil Mack was traded, he was entering his age 27 season, was not nearly as accomplished a player not reigning DPOY… and fetched roughly 2 1sts and a third.
I think they get this year’s first from somebody plus next years first. Seems like they’d have the ammo to end up with two top 5 picks.

I just briefly was looking at team cap space to figure out a team that can compete and have the money. The Commanders looked like a potential team that could make the move. Rookie QB that was lights out and could afford to bring him in.

Good for securing NHALS, maybe. Doesn't really matter otherwise. Steelers won't be competing for Lombardis again until long after Garrett retires, if ever.
Fuck that racist piece of garbage. He belongs on the Browns.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Garrett was 29 this year, he’ll be 30 next year. The only teams gonna trade for him are contenders with picks late in round 1. I could see A team like the Lions or Redskins going all in on Garrett. Or maybe Cincy if they weren’t so cheap, and Cleveland won’t trade him in division. It doesn’t make sense for a rebuilding team.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:25 pmGarrett is entering his age 29 seasonSteelperch wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:35 pmYou think they get a top 5 first round pick plus a future first for a 30 year old DE?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:12 pm

Garrett turns 30 on 12/29/25, which is the last week of the regular season.
I don't see two firsts for him, but do a see a first + extra.

The problem for the Browns is the cap hit for trading Garrett. I think it's something like $36M. Aren't they already over the cap because of the Watson fiasco?

He is not going anywhere. He can't force a trade yet.
For the fan's sake, I hope they do not blow up the team again. The last experiment worked so well.

Garrett wants to leave a sinking ship.
But not TJ. No, TJ will go down with the captain - Tomlin will miss that iceberg the next time!

Would you trade TJ for this haul. I sure would and would not be mad if they did. Time to trade TK & Minkah and see what haul Steelers could get. However, I trade nobody and make no such moves with Captain Gibberish still running things.
Why give this idiot premium draft capital?
He’ll just go and trade up for another Devin Bush or some ridiculous shit.
And if he does land a premium QB he’ll just ruin him.
Let Medicore Mike continue to finish middle and draft middle while we remain middle.

If Art ii is still the owner and Tomlin still HC, why would it matter? Say we get three 1sts for the two of them. Great. Shades still going to be prowling the sidelines, preaching how it's risky to blitz or scheme players into favorable matchups or to throw the ball.gojira5150 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 4:59 pmWould you trade TJ for this haul. Our sorry franchise could’ve traded Watt and Tomlin this off-season and got 3 first rounders and then some. Instead they will let both run out the clock on their careers, win nothing, and get nothing in return for them. Tomlin will handcuff any young QB they eventually acquire, so hopefully they don’t bother getting one till he’s gone.

Jimmy Johnson he is not.I agree. Jibba would screw it up 6 ways to Sunday.
You could give Jibbs 3 #1’s in this years draft and he’d still find a way to finish middle and get blown out of the playoffs.
Will never be fooled by this snake oil salesman again.

Also, not to pick a nit, but Garrett won't be 30 until week 18, so it's really his age 29 season.
Mack was DPOY in 2016 and was traded just prior to 2018. Garrett was DPOY in 2023 and (possibly) will be traded in 2025. Same amount of time will have passed.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 8:54 pmYou underestimate the glowing love for Garrett around the league.Steelperch wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 4:37 amGarrett was 29 this year, he’ll be 30 next year. Also, fwiw, the Raiders also threw a 2nd round pick into that deal.
Last thing - it's probably worth noting that the Browns have had multiple first round picks 6x since 2007 (including a pair of top 5 picks in 2018) and....well, here we are.
The only thing remarkable about Garrett asking for a trade is that Watt hasn't yet.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

I could see the 9ers being interested.
They will have to pay Brock so it’s not clear how that could be managed.

They are in a bit of cap trouble. Houston is still on a rookie QB contract but they have 2 very good pass rushers. Other teams that have cap space are not real contenters and Garrett would not push them over the top.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:26 amI could see the 9ers being interested.

If they believe they’re in a place where the right situation presents a beneficial outcome….the right player(s).
They’re in the top 10 [9th] with higher cap space than 20 plus other teams.
For contrast Texans are 25th and have a bit more of a cap challenge.
