The final moves to be made.
Slot CB even though I like Beanie some think they might reach out to Hinton. My big concern is still the need for a veteran Swing Tackle to step in in case Jones flops or Troy is not fully healthy. I don’t think there any FA out there so maybe have to go the roster cuts way. The last one and still most important from 2024 is someone to play opposite their big play WR. Again they could wait for Roster Cuts or sign a FA like Cooper or maybe swing a trade for a AR guy

The idea of counting on Broderick Jones to protect the blindside of senior citizen Rogers is troubling. Hope they have a vet in mind that can be signed in case he doesn't work out.

Reports outta camp are Jones has reported in much better shape. 15-20 pounds difference.
We’ll see if this is going to have the results everyone is hoping for. Comparison above.
FWIW, Above are the grades through 2024 campaign. If it’s any indication of what we can expect I’m good.
That said, Always room for improvement.
I have always worried about Jone's technique than his athletism but we will see.

It's great he's in shape. I remember when he showed up last year to camp with bigger man tits than Tomlin and Moore showed up rock hard like my ween on the reg, I knew that spelled trouble.
But Jones' biggest problem is not his gut. It's his feet, his hands, his head, his arms, and his legs. Basically everything about how to play offensive tackle is a complete f'n disaster for this dude.

I don't think the go into the season without adding someone to the tackle room. Good thiing Meyers is his coach

I believe it’s a bit safer to say with Jones playing in his natural position there is more confidence and natural technique. SBI, I’m Going with that! It's great he's in shape. It's a damn good thing the Steelers traded up in the draft to get him!tbsteel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 12:30 amSteelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 5:19 pmReports outta camp are Jones has reported in much better shape. 15-20 pounds difference.

Between Bush and Brod, I don't think the Steelers can be trusted trading up in the draft. Hopefully Brod turns things around dramatically this year.
Final moves to be made?? Very simple….
A new pair of aviators along with some new necklaces.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Don’t trust Meyers to get Jones straight?

They are playing with fire since they don’t have a serviceable Backup OT.
Jibbs always leaves a hole somewhere. Always has some sort of roster related excuse that can be used later.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 6:44 pmThey are playing with fire since they don’t have a serviceable Backup OT.

Don't really trust any player who drops weight and gets into better shape after the second year of starting. What, you didn't struggle enough in year one to think you had to take this job seriously? Soory to be cynical, but this seems more like he was unhappy and playing RT in protest and now that he's finally going to be playing his preferred position, he's going to show up in shape and ready to go. It's like a guy playing hard in his contract year.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 5:19 pmReports outta camp are Jones has reported in much better shape. 15-20 pounds difference.

I hope Broderick becomes great, but he's going to have to prove it to me, especially after a lackadaisical and injured year 2. Add to that my concern that Fautanu seems ideally suited to play LT or LG, not RT and the whole thing is a giant question mark.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sign washed up Mike Hilton, although I suppose Echols could be that guy.
They still need to add a pass catcher. Going into the season with Austin, Wilson and Woods behind Metcalf is laughable. Even the Bungles putrid defense doesn't fear that group.
All the money spent on defense just to be gassed in the 3rd quarter because the offense blows again. And just think, that number will be even higher when they pay TJ $40 million. Gross....
2 years in a row Omar failed to fix the WR room. Khan artist my ass.

How can they really make the same mistake with the WR especially with the disaster last year. two moves WR and BU Tackle
This team specializes in doing the same thing year after year.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 12:39 amHow can they really make the same mistake with the WR especially with the disaster last year. two moves WR and BU Tackle
You can set your watch to it, if you will.

I’m trying not to get too down on K-H-A-N (as opposed to Kahn. R-o-D-g-e-r-s as opposed to Mr. Fred Rogers. Good grief) since I think it’s safe to assume all roster decisions run through Tomlin.Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 3:23 pm

Still, here the Steelers are yet again with what looks to be among the worst if not the worst WR group in the NFL.
Tomlin (as well as Colbert and K-H-A-N) make it way too easy to play the hindsight game but man did he/they botch the Pickens trade.
The compensation is fine, but the timing sure sucked.
Did they really not know during the draft that they weren’t going to trade him at some point?
Many of you/us have grand hopes of Tomlin and the Steelers having a losing season in effort to draft their next franchise qb in front of the hometown crowd.
My not so grand hope is Savion Williams or a Donte Thornton or some other rookie WR the Steelers SHOULD have drafted become stars.
Big miss there by K-h-a-n (Tomlin).
Now K-h-a-n (Tomlin) is once again stuck fishing for a viable WR to help save NHALS.
Dumpster diving is my expectation but me? I’m going to overpay for the Sunday ticket yet again so I’m looking for some entertainment value.
If I’m K-H-A-N (no resemblance) I’m trading for the Packs’ Romeo Doubs. POTENTIAL WR2 at a WR4 price. Imperfect player with a fun/flashy upside.
I know
(Believe me I know)
I’ll get Alan Lazzard and like it.

Doubs or Wicks might be the guys on the hot seat
They were trying to trade him up to and during the draft. No one was willing to give up a day 2 pick on draft weekend for him. Best they got offered was a 4th. So it didn't go down. But then after the draft the Cowboys came back offering their third next year and we made the call.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 1:10 pm

We tried trading DJ for two years until they got whatever they could get for him from the Panthers before they were going to release him.
It sucks. I think Khan/Weidl have done a better job of talent evaluation than latter day Colbert, but if Jones busts at LT and Fautanu plays like a G pretending to be a T who can't handle NFL speed, they deserve a shitload of criticism and arguably deserve to lose their jobs.

I can't get fully on board with this train of thought. Jones and Faunt were both generally lauded by this board as well as draft analysts.tbsteel wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 7:41 pmSteeldrama wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 1:10 pm

The issue that remains is this staff absolutely sucks horse cock when it comes to coaching and development. Why should the Khan/Weidl bear the brunt of Tomlin and the idiots on his staff's incompetence?
Just from an Oline standpoint, they can't get players in the correct positions and this goes back to Dotson being let go and K Green being shoehorned into a position we know he'd be bad in.

I like Wicks a lot more than Doubs. But both are pretty uneven guys, not guys who are dependable assets.

I think you can make an argument that Calvin Anderson would be a better starting OT in the NFL than Dan Moore, so I hope he shows it in camp/preseason.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 6:44 pmThey are playing with fire since they don’t have a serviceable Backup OT.
