Arch Manning
He might be available in the 6th round, just like Will Howard, next April. Dude better stay in school.
Horrible performance.
Horrible performance.

If his last name was Williams, no one would care. He's not that good. Accuracy is horrible. He's overrated. Do not trade all your high picks for him. I'd rather Stillers draft Taylen Green in bottom of 1st and use all those picks elsewhere

Well if he ties it up here, maybe we have a different story!!

I think people are maybe overreacting to one game, the first game of the season at that, in his first full season as a starter. Good or bad.
His name is obviously a big part of why he's pushed as a top prospect already. But damn...can we not jump to conclusions.
Not to mention that may be the best team in college football he was facing. Not to mention that may be the best team in college football he was facing.

Obviously OSU is really good but they had to have lost 75% or higher of the impact players from last season that won a national championship.CKSteeler wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 8:02 pmI think people are maybe overreacting to one game, the first game of the season at that, in his first full season as a starter. Arch looked like shit. Missed several easy throws and frankly he looked skittish and nervous. More so than Julian Sayin, a true freshman and that’s sayin’ something (pun intended.)
Maybe Arch turns into another Peyton or Eli but the odds ain’t looking good.

The guy threw 90 passes last year. It's his first game. Obviously he's not ready right now to be in the NFL. He may not even be by season's end (and this is probably why Archie says he wont' enter the draft this year).
It's his first season as a starter. You know what correlates the most with success at the NFL level? Number of starts in college (plus completion percentage, at least it used to when it mattered more and schemes weren't so gimmicky).
Maybe he'll be a bum. I don't know or particularly care. But just saying slow your roll.
I don't want to be that guy, but you are one of the people who wanted us to have patience with Kenny fucking Pickett.

Yes, when you draft a QB in the first round, patience is probably a good idea or……wait for it……you’re quickly admitting your first round QB is/was a bust.CKSteeler wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 8:33 pmThe guy threw 90 passes last year. I get all QB’s need time to grow but Manning looked awful today. OSU is a tough place to play but this version of the Buckeyes ain’t threatening to win it all. They have a lot of warts and Arch couldn’t exploit any of them.
Terrible performance. Maybe he’ll get better but he shit the bed in a game watched by the nation. Plain and simple. I do agree he’ll very likely be in college next season too.

Looked like he needs more experience and work on his mechanics. Not that it will stop the fitting for his HOF jacket ( according to the knob polishers in sports media).

Manning’s off target throw percentage today was the highest by a Texas QB in the last 10 years.

Difficult to say after one game, first game of the season where the opponent was playing lights out defense.
I understand Generational talent rises to the occasion and ’wills’ their team to wins, most times.
That said, this game was within reach at least to tie pushing an OT scenario.
Do you write off a player due to a loss that wasn’t a blowout and was very winnable in the end?
Knowing football is a team sport and while there are certain positions that influence games more than others.
The loss was not all on the QB. WR’s have to get open, Oline has to create push/run lanes and defense has to make stops.
Perhaps the loss today sparks that confidence and competitive drive pushing Manning to become a better player for it?
I’m not writing him off. Fortune cookie says, don’t fear opposition even a kite rises against the wind….

I think he COULD be good but right now needs more starts. He had some nice throws and some not very nice throws.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 11:06 pmDifficult to say after one game, first game of the season where the opponent was playing lights out defense.

In his 1st road start / big game, he looked overwhelmed and under prepared against the OSU D. Not totally surprising. I didn’t expect his footwork and throwing mechanics to be so sloppy though.
Long way to go…we’ll see if he can develop this year while being in such a big spotlight.

Peyton/Manning family haters couldn’t wait to pounce on this one
Definitely a poor performance
It can’t be defended
But
Arch was playing his first road game at the Horseshoe home of the National Champs.
Had to be some nerves even for a Manning.
I was looking forward to that game all week.
Neither offense was remotely impressive.
It’ was week 1 of a LONG season.
Those two teams could meet again in the playoffs
My guess is both offenses will look a whole lot better by then
Arch too

Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
He needs 2 seasons as a starter, I think he’ll be just fine.
As long as Jibba Jabber is still the head coach it doesn’t matter if we draft Archie Manning or Archie Bunker.
Kid could have Bradshaw’s arm, Brady’s brain, and Lamar’s wheels and Jibbs would still find a way to fuck things up.
Guy could have Margot Robbie, Scarlett Jo, and Ana de Armas all in bed drunk, naked, & wanting dick and ole Cool Shades would still manage to not score.

Sark didn't do Arch any favors. I thought Matt Canada was calling Texas plays for much of the first half. Way to get your young QB in a flow with all those runs.
That said Manning played poorly. There were times he had time and just couldn't pull the trigger. Obviously we have to see him and how much he grows.
Did anyone see Mateer yesterday? Not a tall guy but he can really spin the ball. I'm going to keep an eye on him.

Matt Patricia might of had something to do with it too. Looks like he started Ozempic.
To be clear, I WORSHIP Eli Manning because he beat the Belichick and Brady not once, but twice for Lombardis.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 12:37 amPeyton/Manning family haters couldn’t wait to pounce on this one

LOVE the Giants and Eli for that.
Peyton is funny and while I definitely think he got too much hype (while Roethlisberger didn't get enough) Manning was a superstar.
I'm rooting for Arch Manning to succeed. The NFL needs more superstars and he obviously has the size, mobility, arm and genes.
But OSU only brought back 3 starters on defense from last season's national championship team and Arch looked like shit.
Definitely not gonna make a total judgement on one big game but holy shit he has a long way to go.

This. I think Matt Pat is going to end up looking like a great hire by the time all's said and done. That defense, despite only returning a handful of starters (granted, one of those was maybe the top defender in the country), looked well coached, well schemed and ready to play.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 11:05 amMatt Patricia might of had something to do with it too. And that Ohio state defense is very good… don’t care who graduated
Ohio State is a threat to win it all … biggest factor will be if young qb can make some plays when it matters and not turn the ball over

I agree 100% …. He has a reputation as a great play caller but that wasn’t on display yesterday. Thought the play calls were pretty bland and predictable. That 4th and goal was so telegraphed …. Everyone watching knew what the call was and exactly where it was goingfranco32 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 10:45 amSark didn't do Arch any favors. Sure, Columbus is a very tough place to play and nerves could have played a part in why Manning looked so awful.
But OSU's freshman QB never looked overwhelmed and I thought Arch Manning did. Plenty.
Small sample size and I expect him to bounce back, but he was pretty terrible yesterday, no matter how you slice it.

Read Cade Klubnik didn’t have as good a first game folks anticipated either.
Looked great on the first drive, little less since then. Just like tOSU, Texas, LSU and Clemson, though, you're seeing him against a much better caliber defense than guys like Green, Allar and Mateer earlier in the weekend, and I definitely give some credit for that.
Weird watching a VA Tech game where the only Beamer is coaching on the opposite sideline.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
love him ! i desperately want him to be a pittsburgh steeelet especially if it’s with a new OC, HC and QB coach
and how many guys ohio state returned on D makes little difference
they are and will show to be a top D this year
