For being the Walter Payton MOY, this dude sure as shit doesn't understand optics. There are about 10 different ways he could have said this and he picked the absolute worst way.

The only thing saving him is he said it on a Friday afternoon...a time where people don't pay much attention to the media.

EFF Scam!! Has he given back any $ back after his CAPPY PO performances, NOPE!! He and Jibba should have both been jettisoned after the '16 Jags debacle. Just like his HC, Scam's PO stats are atrocious. Capt. Kiss Ass can go with his Boy Jibba.

While I kind of understand his point, but don't most athletes get a job after their done playing a game?

I'm guessing the vast majority of NFL fans must work into their 50s or 60s before even thinking about retiring.

It's hard for me to be on the side of athletes that want more and more money to play a game. Including my favorite player, Watt.

Shut up and play the game you agreed to play or get shipped off like Dallas did to Parsons.

Here We Go Steelers!

Bingo.

Jibbs will never do that to his #1 ass kisser though.

Cam: I can’t play this game forever.

95: Please don’t take another snap for my Steelers ever again.

Cam is an established, one-helmet professional who, in my book, should someday be enshrined in Canton as a HOFer. If this were someone like Micah Parson wanting a new deal, I’d say go jump in the lake. But Cam isn’t that - he’s no longer simply an elite talent cutting his teeth on the business of professional football.

This appears to be about respect, whether he’s explicitly said so or not. Going underpaid in the twilight years of a distinguished career is not how Heyward wants to conclude his journey in front of his peers and the rest of the league. I don’t blame him for his frustration with his compensation level. He’s earned the right to be paid as one of the 10-15 best defensive linemen in the game each season until it's proven he no longer belongs in that tier.

He has a contract and is a captain play thru the deal that you agreed too . steelers need to strip him of that ASAP.
i trade him and his brother at this point

I'm fine with him asking for more money. The solution to my dumbass seems relatively simple but the team seems to disagree.

I don't want to hear that this is really about "respect." The team has catered him for a decade plus. It's about the money plain and simple.

I'm 100% sure they could get smoked in the first round if they make it without him. No difference with him. That's a proven fact. Ask Baltimore if they worry about Cam.

No one held a gun to his fat melon when he signed last year.

Fuck him.

And fuck this glorification of a guy who has done absolutely nothing when it has mattered most. He is a non-entity in the playoffs. His stats are terrible. Like TJ, he is a regular season stat generator and king of NHALS. Both suck Tomlin’s nutsack because with Mediocre Mike, they get those stats and sign those massive contracts. And both have fanboys who love to make excuses for those overpaid sacks of meat on defense when they vanish in the postseason.

So he didn’t have the balls to bet on himself last year, and signed a deal he’s not happy with now? Too fuckin’ bad. I can’t recall a time when sCam shit the bed in the playoffs (like last year) and offered to give back his game check.

Sidney Crosby has been one of the greatest players in the NHL for 2 decades. He signs for $8.7 million/yr, well below his market value and he’s never complained while bringing the city 3 Stanley Cups. WTF has sCam done? sCam has already made more than Sid will this entire season and he hasn’t played a snap. Respect? He signed the contract. He needs to honor the contract. Period. sCam needs to show some respect to those that have made him a multimillionaire, secured his family with generational wealth and continued to stand by him when he consistently failed to deliver in the playoffs.

HOF? Probably... but like his fraud of a HC, he’s been overrated and overpaid for a very long time. If they get in, I hope Jibbs and sCam both have to wait a while before getting the jacket. They, along with Deuce, are shining examples of the era of mediocrity which this franchise and fanbase have come to embrace.

Until now, I have been a big Cam Heyward fan. He played on a tremendous level last year, and throughout his career; and has been a team leader. However, he has two years to go on a deal he signed only a year ago, which at the time many thought was agreed to in order to recognize Cam’s contributions in earlier seasons. Now, to Cam’s credit, he did perform after he signed the contract.

But what he is doing now is wrong. He’s affecting the team which has loaded up on veteran stars to try to win a playoff game for T.J. Watt. It has to be a distraction. Cam should be a man and live up to what he signed, and quietly raise the issue of an extension after the season, which I’m sure the Steelers would be receptive to.

Caving in now by the Steelers would set a horrible precedent.

Thats about the way I see his situation. Im quite surprised his agent or people close to him haven't been able to talk some sense into him. Or is his agent the one ring leading this circus?

They should trade him to the Cardinals or something, but they won't.

Cam himself is making a huge mistake if he sits out, as he's at his best in the fall. If he gets inducted into the HoF, his highlight reel will be full of play from September and October.

I agree with most of the comments above. Nice post CoolShades.

One can say Cam has been a part of Tomlins playoff ineptness and incompetence....dragged down.
But one only needs to look at the points the Steelers have given up in the 9 playoff games he has played....to realize he has not made an impact.

292 points given up in 9 games. 32 per
194 points allowed in the last 5 alone...38.8 per.

To look at his stats in those 9 games, is astonishing to say the least. 😞

9 playoff games. 8 starts.
1-8 record.
The one win was the Cincy implosion game.
Really should be 0-9?

9 playoff games. A TOTAL OF ONE SACK.
ONE. UNO. 1. WON.

That one sack was in 2015.
It is the year 2025 now.
Ten years ago.

For a guy that has become real good at batting down passes = PD. One of the best in the NFL.
HE HAS A TOTAL OF ONE PD.
ONE. UNO. 1. WON.

Really hard to fathom that in 9 games he has 1 sack and 1 batted down pass

Two forced fumbles.
Zero fumble recoveries.

17 tackles in 9 games. < 2 per game avg.
12 assists.
29 total.

Only 4 tackles for loss in 9 games.
6 QB hits.

ZERO QB HITS IN THE LAST 5 GAMES.

I am only a messenger of Information.
I am sorry to provide this.

For his legacy, and for how we remember him, and he is most likely a great guy....
I sure hope he is a model teammate in 2025,
Has a great season and helps that young trio of fellow DL take the next step.

Oh, and wins a playoff game or 3.

This is the first time I’ve ever been bothered by a player asking for more money. Can’t quite square the circle that this guy said “you either want to be a steeler or you don’t” and “I can’t feed my family on $140m career earnings” in the same offseason.

They can’t suck just as bad without him as they do with him. Trade him for any draft capital and let Harmon and Black get more snaps.

The crazy thing is something like half of Cam's postseason stats came in last year's Ravens Wild Card game, a game in which the defense gave up almost 300 rushing yards.

It's truly stunning how little Cam has mattered in the playoffs, even when the Steelers had a great offense that took pressure off the D. Where was Cam in the 2017 Jags game?

He was coming off a down season and some injuries, so he took the best deal he was going to get.

But he claims he told them if he had a great year, he'd expect more money. If that was actually true, then he should have signed a 1-yr deal. We all know if Cam under-performed he wasn't giving any money back.

There´s one reason, why Steeeers´ O didn´t give up 300 rushing yards - Ravens´ QB kneeled on last play for a loss of 1 yard. Otherwise..

Is this true? Cam was paid $13.5 million of his 2025 $14.5 million salary as a bonus before the season so he doesn't care if he doesn't play or gets suspended & not getting the remaining $1 million for 2025.

As much as I disagree with his hold-in, I'm OK with this outcome. I wish more contracts were based on incentives - you get more only if you play well.

So Cam gets:

$1.5 million for a SB win
$1.5 million for a league MVP

Surprised he didn’t hold out for $3 million more if he fucks Sydney Sweeney on live tv during the SB half time show.

What a retard. You can tell Tomlin is his mentor. Dude threw a fit and held out to get offered money he’ll never actually get. CTE is real!

I hope after all this whining by Scam and the epic TJ Watt deal they’ll end up regretting that our defense gets blown off the field yet again (if) we make the playoffs.

Further expose Jibbs as the fraud that he is.

I want our next playoff win to be under a new regime. A playoff win now just allows Dunce to validate that Jibba Jabber is the right man for the job.

I guarantee if this team finally wins a playoff game under Tomlin they’ll celebrate as if they won the SB then come out flatter then shit the following week. Guaranteed.

I would like to see Sydney Sweeney pounded at halftime though.

Most unknowledgeable Steelers fans are considering this a win for Cam. At least that is what I am seeing on social media.

So I actually look at this as an example of good player management by the GM.

Cam walked out onto a ledge and alienated a lot of the fanbase.

Team management gave him a face saving way to climb back off that ledge.

Doesn't matter that he is very unlikely to earn any of those incentives.

Much like the Cuban Missile Crisis where we gave the Soviets a pledge never to invade Cuba and also agreed to dismantle Jupiter missile systems in Turkey that we already we were going to dismantle anyway. And they couldn't say we did it in order to end the crisis.

Not much in value given to the Soviets except a way for Khrushchev to save face (he later was ousted for the crisis anyway).

This is how I choose to look at it.

I know Khan made this deal, but in my head I'm just picturing Tomlin telling Cam - with a deadpan straight face - he gets $1.5M if they win the SB.
