Coaching decisions
We've been over and over Tomlin calling for a dive from the 3 and punting with a foot to go to ice the game. The latter one...is defensible though cuz Steelers have not been a great short yardage team and fail there and vikes only have to drive 20 yards for FG range. Booming the punt outta the end zone tho....like what the actual fuck!!
Was anyone else tho at least a little surprised that vikes chose the wayyy low percentage onsides when they still had two play stoppages post kickoff. They kickoff, Steelers run back to say 25, vikes hold them, they prob get ball back in better field position with a minute left.

I agree with the onsides kick decision by the Vikes. Probably less than 10% chance it's successful. So you're about 90% certain you have to play defense anyway and get a stop. Plus you've shrunk the field that you have to fully defend. ~50 yards vs ~70 yardsswissvale72 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 6:55 pm

wilsons TD saving tackle made that onside attempt
on the punt the thing that surpised me most was it appears the punter was told to just kick it out of the EZ ... as it was boomed and not even close

18 years on the job and this stupid fuck manages to get dumber and dumber each year.
One would have to put serious work in to be this stupid managing a game.
Stupid to not take the FG which forces them to need two TDs to win.
To make matters worse, his dumb ass tried to run it in from 5 yards out instead of having his vet QB throw one up to one of his many tall receiving options.
Then, after going for it there, his chickshit ass lives in his fears yet again and punts on 4th and short.
And then manages to put more dumb on tape by having his punter boot it through the EZ.
His decisions are sooo bad it almost appears as though he’s trying to throw the game.

I would have liked to see the Steelers been aggressive on the final possession and throw on 1st down, very tiring seeing them try to run it 3 times into stacked boxes, perfect time for a quick throw on 1st and/or 2nd down.

Has it been confirmed that Waitman was Told to kick out of the end zone ? Ps failing to take the 3 almost cost him
I don't have a source. Maybe it was the TV broadcast or interview after the game, but I distinctly remember hearing it was Tomlins decision and Waitman was instructed to kick it out of the end zone.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 3:08 amHas it been confirmed that Waitman was Told to kick out of the end zone ? I have to remind myself to root for the helmet
Not the jimmies and joes or X's and O's
My favorite teams have absolute in game DOLTS for coaches.
Venting here
Kirby DUMB on a 4th and 1 bypassing a game tying FG against my equally favorite Tide in favor of a PISS POOR fireman's drill toss play to a 9th year senior, slow, white RB instead of the two studs that were destroying Bama all game long,
MIND NUMBINGLY STUPID!
Don't get me started on my transplant hometown Braves senile manager, Brian Snitker.
Tomlin?
I believe it was Jeemie who had it right.
Why on EARTH would any reporter with working brain not question Tomlin on the punt in question???
"Coach Tomlin, you've OFTEN said you don't live in your fears so why a punt out of the endzone there instead of a running play that had been effective ALL GAME LONG???????"
GAWD AWFUL
Go Skenes!

Seems that Aaron Rodgers lost communications on the last drive.

Sometimes it's not Tomlin's fault when things go wrong.

Should've never come down to a final drive.
Steelers were up 24-6 with 11 minutes to play.
Total collapse by Jibb's D and he followed that up by the most conservative 4th N goal play, any coach could run...inside zone and it gets stuffed. Tomlin trusted Gainwell more that future HOFer Aaron Rodgers.
Your HC, scared shitless, Mike Tomlin is a game day imbecile.

It`s always Tomlins fault. "Lost communications" really means that in a tight situation Tomlin started mutterin`, stutterin`, and dutterin` on the headset and no one knew wtf was going on. Rodgers isn't willing to say that publicly though.
It's simply stumblin`, bumblin`, and almost fumblin` in Dublin on a new level.

Describes your post defending Jibbs.
Do better.
Texas Black and Gold is a Rooney family plant to try and provide misinformation on the coaching ability of Tomlin

This is actually very creative and funny.

I wish I were part of the Rooney family, if for nothing else to get Steeler tickets.

Most here criticize and blame Tomlin for everything.
I was just pointing out that he doesn't deserve all the blame when things go bad.

I bet Tomlin learns not to burn all his TOs next time.....Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 10:19 pmMost here criticize and blame Tomlin for everything.

On one hand he gets criticized for not using TOs and on the other hand he gets criticized for using TOs.
I think he uses them as he sees appropriate. He's not going to please everyone. Plus it gives us something to Monday morning QB about.

Tomlin has gotten much better as his TO's. Much better. And not to drag up the past but he's miles ahead of where Cowher was - though admittedly that was a different time when there were "rules" like "don't call timeouts on defense".
Tomlin is good at a lot of things. And bad at a lot of things. I try to appreciate the former while just shaking my head with the latter. But he does make it hard, doesn't he?

Unfortunately, those things Tomlin is bad at, happens to be the most important attributes of a modern NFL HC.lifelongsteel wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 1:06 amTomlin has gotten much better as his TO's. And I disagree, Jibbs remains an in-game management imbecile, who was likely ,a poor math student.

Sometimes coaches need to be saved from themselves.
Example; Rams HC goes for it on 4th and 1 with about 4 minutes left in OT instead of kicking it to tie it up.

Complete madness. Mcvey didn’t learn much at end of 4th with Williams fumbling at goal line to not winTexas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Fri Oct 03, 2025 3:49 amSometimes coaches need to be saved from themselves.

Then they fuck around in OT with an obvious pass play again not called. Just awful

Am I the only one that every time Tomlin does something dumb, I hear that NFL Films guy's voice in my head saying "there are 31 teams in the NFL, and then there are the Pittsburgh Steelers"?

Jags vs KC
4th and goal for Jags. And they don't use the tush push.
Trevor leaps up and fumbles before breaking the plane.
Come on Coach. Really!!!

The decision was very defensible, imo. Perfect execution in that situation, except for maybe the punt itself.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 6:55 pmWe've been over and over Tomlin calling for a dive from the 3 and punting with a foot to go to ice the game. Trust the pass rush to close out the game, rather than spin the roulette wheel that the offense may get the short yardage. The Vikes kicker hit a 62 yarder the week before. No reason to allow a fluke play to get them in range. Besides, if they had gotten the short yardage on 3rd down, then they would not have been on 4th down.
The pass rush is the strenghth of the team. And it's awesome to see how aggressive the DBs are getting in the secondary knowing that the QB is likely to make a poor decision. They have experience, savvy and talent all over the defense. It's constructed well to handle situations where the opponent has to pass.
And they kicked it right at Roman Wilson, who looks to have as reliable hands as I can remember any Steelers receiver having since Antionio Brown. The guy is stickum!swissvale72 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 6:55 pmWas anyone else tho at least a little surprised that vikes chose the wayyy low percentage onsides when they still had two play stoppages post kickoff.
