Last time Chargers oline was banged up
Last time Chargers oline was banged up
I’m getting old and my memory isn’t what it used to be…
Does anyone recall a Chargers team that rolled into Pitt, down like 3 Oline starters and still won the game?
Am I losing it? Didn’t that happen?

I believe you are correct.....
Right tackle that game may have been Ellis Boyd Redding, who was, If i recall, working part time in a grocery store.

I believe Herbert exited the game early last year? Hobbling around in 4th Q.

Never understood this weird fascination with what other coaches and players did against an opponent (also with different players and coaches) sometimes years earlier.
We have some studs, but we also have Tomlin. We can beat or lose to anyone any given weak. This team hasn't seen a "gimmee" on the schedule in years.

Yes, December 2012, coinciding with my being all done with Mike Tomlin.

I think it was later than 2012.
It was a prime time game, the Chargers were missing i think 4 of 5 o-line starters and had to call up two from practice squad.
Steelers were i think 7-3-1 going into that game, lost, then preceded to miss the playoffs.
EDIT - yep; 2018 and we were winning 23-7 at half. Lost 33-30
Another notch in the belt of Tomlin’s stellar career.

There was also the last time the Steelers played on Sunday Night in Los Angeles. At the soccer stadium in 2019. The Steelers fans took over that stadium, and the team turned in a dominant defensive performance. One of the better games, if not the best game from Devon Bush who was a rookie at the time. He had a fumble recovery for a TD and also pulled down an interception.
One of the games that year where Duck Hodges was the quarterback.

Correct. The 2012 loss came against like 3 back-up linemen.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 1:28 amWell, happened in 2012 as wellOrangesteel wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 12:08 amI think it was later than 2012.

I knew you would know. I absolutely remember it but couldn’t tell you when it happened or the particulars.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 10:43 pmYes, December 2012, coinciding with my being all done with Mike Tomlin.
All I know is SD pulled scrubs off the street and stone walled Jibbs fake ass defense.
Patriots did it to us one year when they had to sign corners off the street the week of our game.

The Jets was supposed to be a gimmee (it was not) the Bengals should have been a gimmee (we got embarrassed). I am hoping that tonight they play like last week on D and fly to the ball and control the LOS..Kodiak wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 5:12 pmNever understood this weird fascination with what other coaches and players did against an opponent (also with different players and coaches) sometimes years earlier.

As was stated we have had more than a few games where a journeyman off the street with like 2 practices has taken it to us with teams that were better than our current version.

Gotta like the consistency.
And if not, it would be quite funny for the D to get their shit pushed in yet again on prime time TV.I am hoping that tonight they play like last week on D and fly to the ball and control the LOS.
Love when we are the only game on and Jibbs gets that bug eyed blank fucking stare for all to see just how clueless he really is.
