Firing McDermott and promoting Beane is like the last episode of Mary Tyler Moore when the station fired everyone but Ted.
Wow. I guess after Tomlin said he wasn't coaching BUF had to scramble for the next best choice

I thought every team had a contract ready to go the minute Coach T left the Steelers. This is beyond insulting.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

I think the question becomes, could current day, living fully in his fears Tomlin summon up 19 years ago Tomlin for a couple of years? I'm not sure I'd bet the house on it if I were Buffalo, which is exactly what they'd be doing.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

19 years ago Tomlin was HC in name only. I think his tenure actually began with "easing in" against GB...

19 years and STILL the only thing anyone can cite is running a few extra return drills one day. Fundamentals. That was Tomlin's ceiling.
