Did no one watch the pre draft podcast?

B2B not only discussed the prospect of drafting him

He had him on the show.

Seems like a good kid and hard worker.

Thanks @bradshaw2ben I appreciate the effort you put into this site.
I drafted him in the board mock too

He is an intriguing player.

Should be an asset for special teams and McCarthy is big on positional flexibility.

If he can protect the QB could see him as a good option on 3rd down.
i’m not confident about his blocking at the NFL level at 200 lbs. really feels like our offense is built on the assumption that RBs are always big and slow and only good for blocking, so a Jahmyr Gibbs type would be only be usable for kickoff returns (given that he wouldn’t be good at our RB’s one true job).

But hoping to see big changes under mccarthy.

A coherent NFL level offense that actually plans for each opponent and uses plays and formations to set up future plays and formations might be enough to get me through another season.

I’ll believe that the offense will change, when I see the offense change.
A2 wants the dinosaur attack. He thinks that’s what the fanboys pay for…and he’s not entirely wrong.

Unfortunately true, on both counts.

AR2 wants NHALS and the ground and pound conservative offense has the best chance of getting that. It also needs all the planets to align to win in the playoffs.

What happened to the Art that told Cowher it was "time to win a SB"?

I do think he fell in love with the optics of the most consecutive seasons without a losing record and "only 3 coaches in 50+" years.

Still, it's hard to imagine that he really doesn't prioritize winning a title. I think he convinced himself Tomlin was a good coach and it was just bad luck and bad match-ups. Deuce, Tomlin and Colbert all referred to the playoffs as a "lottery ticket", and so you can kind of see placing such a priority on just making the playoffs.

As for White Mike, I think partially this isn't a team that would attract a top young first time HC. The offense is a mess, not to mention no QB. Most of the better players are highly paid and on the downside of their career. McCarthy's phone wasn't exactly ringing off the hook, and hopefully his the guy that can right the ship and THEN pave the way for a young innovative coach.

Just look at what Tomlin inherited and what he left. Absolute disgrace. I will throw up when he's inducted into the HOF. I'd even consider attending the ceremony just so I could lose my voice booing.

Worth noting than Mike McCarthy said after the hire that his offense depends on a "power running game", so I would lower the expectations of an "offensive-minded coach" suddenly making them look like the Rams.

Exactly. And this is A2s influence. McCarthy, like Tomlin before him, was hired to run the “rock pounding orgasm” offense that A2 and most Yinzer fanboys crave!

I certainly don't expect a pass first offense, with the QB room the team has. With our without Rodgers... but I think we would all like to see them move on from the stone age.

but my fear, that the "time pressure", run run pass punt, offense that we've seen for the past 7 or so seasons, is really on Art, and not Tomlin.

That style of offense, that Harbaugh also runs, is good to get wins in the regular season but not in the play offs. So if the bottom line is a winning season then it is the best to run.

supposedly there is something going around called the forward pass, the qb will actually throw the ball far down the field, like 10 yards or more!!!!!! as many times as you want! No limits! I'm calling bullshit but I guess we will see in the fall.
