Is it possible?
That former Bengal/Buc, Michael Johnson, could play OLB in Butler's 3-4 defense? You gotta love that kids first step, as well as his length. Very Jason Taylor-ish. Just thinking out loud...

He couldn't be worse than what we have now.

Any word on his visits? I'd like to see him here as well

Recently-released Bucs DE Michael Johnson's first visit will be with the Minnesota Vikings, per source.

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

He is said to be visiting Minnesota. I wouldn't mind him either....i also wouldn't mind going after Greg Hardy, obvious baggage but he is a beast. might come fairly cheap with all of the off field stuff...he'll grab both and play a lot of hybrid stuff, you could be very multiple if you will....

Let's be honest, Greg Hardy is the prize of free agency left right now. You've got a 27 year old edge rusher in his prime that you can realistically expect double digit sack production from. Those guys are rare. Don't tell me about the domestic violence thing --- organization that employed James Harrison and Greg Lloyd.

If we repeat this post over and over enough, maybe it will come true. I think we'd be ecstatic and on moon.

We should be getting him already.
If Dan led the team still, we might.

We already had those guys on the roster. The chance of picking up an outside guy with that kind of baggage: 0

The Steelers are the idiots for not pursuing Hardy, yet no other team in the NFL has taken the plunge and signed him. Pretty interesting stuff.

Fans panic. We have holes, we better rush out and fix them NOW DAMMIT. The Steeles do NOT panic. If they don't feel an FA is worth it, they are not going to sign one. They look to fill the holes through the draft.

To be more precise, they always at least nominally fill the hole via free agency before the draft-- then they upgrade via the draft and with vet pickups late.

I agree in theory. But it's no longer a rush to fix it job. Our pass rush has been broken for 3 years without being fixed.

Well usually- but what they have had a knack for was using FA for value picks to fill some holes so they don't have as many when draft time rolls around.
I thought Sheard would have been one of those value picks at a position of weakness- and where the talent pool is quickly drying up- so that's why I'm annoyed.
Also McCain may be "mediocre" but he was good depth at another weak spot- I feel we should have done a better job trying to keep him.

So he's a psychopath, or sociopath, or some other kind of path. He can rush the passer. I'm sure there is a stripper in the greater pittsburgh area that we could sacrifice in exchange for a few sacks.

There definitely are some fine establishments in the city and region. I know this from experience
