Calling a timeout

Post by Legacy User » Fri Sep 11, 2015 10:36 am

Apparently is an extremely difficult thing to do....

Not only do you have to be quick on your feet and be able to do simple math,

There is also the question of who is going to call it.

Should it be the HC? Should the HC tell his QB to call it?

Then there is the defensive TO. If you were watching last night, I believe NE called 2 timeouts while on defense. Aren't they stupid? Why would you do that? Maybe because you see you are in the wrong defense, there is a mismatch on the field that needs addressing, etc.

How many times were the Steelers out of position on D? When Gronkowski splits out and you see confusion...should you let the confusion play out or call TO?

The clock management stuff makes you want to rip your hair out. The end of the first half was absolutely painful to watch.

I'd give the team a pass if this wasn't a year after year issue that can be quickly corrected by having a coach that can add and subtract.

Stupidity and clock mgmt are a dangerous combo.

Steelers are in favor of letting confuion reign.

They did so in Super Bowl XLV.

They did so last night when no one was covering Gronk, and then again when Gronk got matched up on Garvin.

I see Gronk on Garvin, or Gronk uncovered, I DO not let the play go off.

Maybe the coaches couldn't communicate which caused the lining up confusion to begin with. They could still call timeouts but if someone up top is seeing something that is not right which cannot be seen from the ground and those coaches are yelling to the coaches on the ground to call a timeout and the coaches on the ground are hearing the Patriots play by play guy talking about Patriots stuff then it would be hard to get a timeout called.

Totally agree. Gronk should have been a major part of your defensive game plan, particularly when they are in the red zone. There should be NO confusion about who is covering him at all times! That's shitty coaching.
