Steelers 2019 = Best offensive player and QB done for the season AND best defensive player having a career year done for the season before week 7. Add in starting SS out from week 3 onward til ?? AND several other significant injuries throughout the roster. Damn tough year injury wise.

Maybe it's what this team needs.
A swift kick in the ass. Get the coaches to actually work with what they have, as opposed to waiting for what they have to succeed.
The've been bitten by the injury bug in a way I can't remember. Sans the 90's when I didn't watch much football.
So the old tomlin cliche is in effect.
Next man up.
But it is true, yes? Adversity makes players stronger and coaches smarter - and fans more critical.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Guy's been a beast this year (6 games) but between his injuries and his sub-par play last year is he worth the mega-bucks the Steelers pay him?
The 6-foot-6, 303-pound Tuitt has started all six games this season and has 3.5 sacks.
Tuitt still has three more seasons on his contract with the Steelers. Next year his cap hit will be $14.9 million.

Muhammed Wilkerson worth looking at?
Alualu has been a solid backup.
Criticized a bit too much around here.
At $2.1 million salary, probably a bargain for your 4th defensive lineman.
That salary jumps to $3.6 in 2020 at age 33...
With a $875k dead cap hit.
Lets see what Buggs brings.
Who on practice squad may get a call up?

I love Tuitt but the injuries are now a concern going forward. When they said he was hurt and speculation was he might be out for the year it reminded me the Steelers need to invest a premium pick on the position especially if Gravedigger moves on next year.
This next man up shit is getting old.
Early on Alualu filled in well but he seemed to wear down as the game went on. I not sold on him being a starter for the next 10 games.

He's having the type of arm injuries that plagued Aaron Smith late in his career. Terrific year ended. I think Heyward is on the downside and we may lose Hargrave this offseason. Sounds like a priority in the draft. Ben's injury was a presager of things to come, I guess.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 11:08 pmHis career will be just a giant injury report. Buggs is actually a pretty decent pass rusher
Play Alualu and even McCullers on run downs
Tuitts injury the final blow for me.
I threw my hands up in utter disgust
I’ve been a diehard fan of this team since the 70s
I can’t remember ever having a worse vibe about my beloved Steelers than I do right now

His subpar play last year was due to injuries as well. this is a nut kick.SixTrophies wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 11:49 pmGuy's been a beast this year (6 games) but between his injuries and his sub-par play last year is he worth the mega-bucks the Steelers pay him?

Like I said, Buggs gameday active, promote Mondeaux and call up Sheehy and put him on the Practice Squad. This is the Steelers way.
or pick a D-lineman from the Bengles Practice Squad and return them the favor...

Winston Craig is also available. Was in camp/preseason and has experience in the NFL and AAF. Was solid contributor in the preseason.

A second-round pick in 2014, Tuitt has only played 16 games once in his six NFL seasons.
He missed two games in 2015, 2016 and 2018, and he missed four games in 2017.
This is the first time an injury has ended his season. He played through elbow injuries in each of the past two seasons. He hyper-extended his elbow early in the 2017 season, an injury that bothered him all season. He suffered another hyper-extended elbow in the middle of last season as well.
Tuitt is the Steelers’ highest-paid defensive player and has three years remaining on a five-year, $60 million contract that he signed in 2017.
