Duck Fucks the Browns
Actually, this piece isn't so much about Duck.
It's initially about me, and how I bagged plans to watch at Hibernia in Hell's Kitchen, opting to drive back to New Hampshire before the storm commenced. So it was off to NYC with my boy at 6am, dropped a bunch of shit at his place....tv, dresser, table, then turned around and headed back to the 603, arriving at 4, just about when the game was ending. Good thing about watching on delay....can rewatch scoring drives before going on to the rest of the game. Oh, way home, listening to pregame shit...all about Clowns. Wouldn't have known Steelers were playing. All of the Browns offensive firepower. Mayfield, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Hunt....compare that to the Steelers no-names.
Anyway, highlight of the game, in my estimation, followed the Duck pick....Browns having just narrowed the deficit to 7, now set up at the Steelers 30, in great position to tie the game. Not only did the Browns NOT tie, they couldn't even attempt a FG...big sack and they were punting away again. Think about this defense....allowing 12 (really only allowed 3 to the Rams) against Rams, 10 against Bungs, 13 to Clowns. Key to this team winning games....defense gets after shit, offense doesn't fuck up, hits a few big plays....all equals a win!
Okay, it being the season, I'm going to be charitable:
*None of these receivers are Antonio Brown...but they've stepped up without him...AND without JuJu as well for that matter. James Washington & Whatisname Johnson (I keep wanting to call him Teofilo, after the Cuban boxer) make plays...and even Cain & Lewis have made a play or two.
*Mike Tomlin...lot of talk about him being Coach of the Year, best coaching job. I've sometimes said that Tomlin's greatest skill, in addition lto having an exceedingly well-developed line of bullshit, is being able to never lose his team, to lead his team. My problem with Tomlin has always been his game-day dumbfuckedness. Not so bad lately, tho....
-Why not decline the Browns penalty near end of half, clock would stop anyway, and Steelers could have been in position to use their final timeout to get the ball back on the right side of midfield with a few ticks left. Yes, Clowns picked up a couple first downs before the clock ran out, but not going to base the critique on the results.
-And then, rookie QB, who had recently thrown a pick, almost cost his team the FG try to go ahead by 10...I'm straight up running to get the clock down to 1:10, for the Clowns to go length of field with no timeouts left to tie. That's a call that's 50-50 even with Ben at QB, with Duck, it's more 90-10.
Going forward....James Conner? He can stay out, IMO, I'm liking Benny Snell. He does get better as game goes on, and doesn't put the ball on the ground.
Plus 11 in the turnover ratio. THAT is the key to 6 wins outta seven!!!
Playoffs in this team's future....defense that will travel well....and Duck under center!!

Far too small of a sample size to determine that IMO.I'm liking Benny Snell. He does get better as game goes on, and doesn't put the ball on the ground.
He has looked like a decent pick for a 4th rounder. Has some power. Looks like he could use some more burst but a nice component to a RB rotation.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
I like Snell a lot too. I wonder what damage Conner can do in the playoffs if is fully healthy and rested. May give us the offense we need to make a run.
Duck looked much more relaxed than Mason... and to me, that's the biggest difference between them. Talent doesn't always win out.... it's why so many first round qbs turn into busts..... Their processing skills are slow.... which makes everything they do a split second too late.... which in the nfl leads to disaster. Duck plays laid back, seems to have a quick processor... and lets it fly. With a championship D, great play from Bos and Berry, an improving return game.... Duck and a running game..... I don't think any other fan base wants their team to face us. Let's GO!!!!!
Forgot to mention James Washington and the receivers... Once JUJU gets back... Look out.

Good thing about these injuries is it has allowed a few players to step-up, and in the case of Washington really seize the opportunity.
Cain has looked like a guy who has won the #4 receiver job. He's only made a few plays, but that's already a few more than Switzer/Holton/Moncrief combined. I guess give them credit for not signing Eli Rogers in a panic.
Snell has, IMO, forced a 3-back rotation. And, hell, I like what I've seen from the Whyte kid.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
I think Cain is a keeperKodiak wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:04 pmGood thing about these injuries is it has allowed a few players to step-up, and in the case of Washington really seize the opportunity.

Please don’t let Holton run another route
Cain and Whyte on kick returns, along with DJ on punt returns, shows just how awful Switzer was. And yet they were satisfied to send Switzer out there.

I bow my head in silence at the departure of the Switzinator.
