I dont mind Cowherd he often makes good points if you can get past some the ridiculous bombast. So In down moment during last week I was listening to one of his shows and the topic of Bradshaw's comments on Cowher came up.
Cowherd argued Bradshaw was right and then proceeded to make his case. He had some good stuff and solid reasoning: record v 500 teams, Tebow debacle...but then he went to far.
Cowherd tried to imply PS should be dominating AFCN like Colts with Manning and Pats with Brady do/did in their divisions. Think about that for a moment: in Cowherd's logic AFCN is on a par with AFC East and South. Is it FUCK.
Lets leave aside the obvious reason why it isn't and look at just the Bengals. They made the playoffs a bunch recently, have very talented roster and are far better than any divisional opponent the Pats or Colts face/faced. It isn't close.
Waffling on about the Broons doesn't make the AFCN the same as the cake walks Manning/Brady played/play in. Then of course the obvious tearing apart of Cowherd's ignorance: the Baltimore Ravens.
Imagine the Ravens in the AFC East for the past decade. Does anyone honestly believe the Pats stroll to div title, bye after bye? Hell no. A healthy talent laden Rats team gave Pats fits in playoffs and but for some massive errors could have beaten them 3 straight times in NE.
One additional factor about the division Cowherd of course would never get to because it is far to in the weeds: the wear and tear of playing in a highly competitive, physical division. Injuries are par for the course in AFCN. Injuries to big time players. In a division that is always decided by one or two plays a season those injuries are magnified. When you play shitty teams they aren't.
No Tomlin isn't in same league as Belichek but it isn't close to a debate his team plays in Division that is infinitely more difficult to excel in. History alone proves that, time and again.
As noted earlier Tomlin is far from a perfect coach. Yet this nonsense of no one dares critique him is BS. 2010, Tomlin had a shit oline, a back up QB and came one play from 4-0. I damn sure don't recall media and Cowherd types singing his praises. Last season with a team so banged up it became silliness they came within a fumble of AFCCG. I damn sure didn't hear media and Cowherd singing praises.
Why do I bring this up? Easy Pats went 3-1 this year with backup QB and of course everyone was on the genuflect bandwagon.
As to the Tomlin inherited a SB roster, so did Gruden, Harbaugh sans Flacco, Tony Dungy, Kubiak, McCarthy and many others. Why aren't/didn't they face the same level of scrutiny from Cowherd? McCarthy after all is in a Division historically far weaker than AFCN and what does he have to show for it?
Cowherd on Tomlin
I heard this too, and cracked the fuck up when he said Tomlin has always had above average O Lines. BA put together some absolute shit in front of 7. I don't know WTF Cowherd was watching.
