Doug Peterson’s moron moment finally arrived...

...to make Philly’s likely loss a total team failure...offense, defense, and coaching.

BLATANT forward lateral...Peterson fails to challenge it. Would have been fourth down and a punt.

Seattle goes on to score a TD to make it a 14-point game.

How do teams screw this up so badly and frequently? I mean, you just have a guy in the booth watching the TV feed, and then scream "challenge" into the headset.

In spite of that fuckup by Peterson, and it was a big fuckup, I'm impressed with the job hes done overall as a rookie HC. Eagles look really good.

Wentz gets tight, plays unsettled in big moments on the road. He missed a wide open receiver on early possession that could have been a TD and threw pic in EZ later. At this point in their careers he and DP could blow SB to NE if it comes to that.

Well...he might have actually been a tad gun shy becaus earlier he had challenged the spot of a football where the officials blatantly robbed him (the video evidence was clear that the receiver had reached the line to gain in at least two replays, but the officials...and New York...somehow felt there wasn’t “conclusive evidence”).

I didn’t see the first half as I was busy with stuff, but it appears Peterson was a moron for most of the game.

This happened to him last year too in his first real test against Dallas.

Signature games seem to be an issue for him. He better figure it out, or the Eagles will not go far in the playoffs.

...and he had plenty of time to challenge the lateral...NBC had showed the replay multiple times prior to the ball being snapped for the next play.

At first look I thought for sure that ball was lateraled backwards.

Considering how inconsistent officiating has been, and in his mind he got shafted on ball placement challenge, maybe he valued the time out more than the challenge - hoping his defense could stop wilson. Bad gamble, it appears.

Why aren't designed laterals more prevalent, is the question I have.

That’s because both Wilson and the receiver kept running forward, so the eyes were deceived by the players’ movements as opposed to where the ball traveled.

The same optical illusion made people swear up and down that the Music City Miracle was a forward pass because Dyson was ahead of Wychek on the play, but he stepped backwards to get it. The players’ positioning fooled us into thinking the ball went forward, when it actually went straight down a yard line.

But at any rate, the first replay NBC showed clearly showed the ball going forward.

I’m wondering if the coaches have it straight in their heads that the path the ball takes is the only thing that matters...the players can be positioned anywhere.

puckered assholes and the fear of turnovers. Some coaches are to tight to throw the ball on 1st down and you want to start lateraling the ball down field?
