Steelers Workout Cornerback Jack Tocho

From NC State. Drafted in the 7th by the Vikes and cut from their PS. Known for his high work ethic, good play strength and high football IQ. Another Mike Hilton? Sign him to the PS.

The "Dewayne Washington Defensive Back of the Year Award?"

Definitely puked in my mouth a little bit there.

As a sophomore in 2014, Tocho led the team in passes broken up (11) and earned the Wolfpack's Dewayne Washington Award for Defensive Back of the Year.

Should be an automatic cut IMO.

It's a little surprising to me that the Steelers haven't signed Senquez Golson to the practice squad. Maybe he's not interested (though he's not on any other rosters), or maybe the Steelers have decided that he's not a viable option. Disappointing.

Only thing you can say there to put yourself at ease is, of anybody in the NFL, our medical and coaching staff should have the best read on the guy, and they're saying no.

Probably because they know he can't even stay healthy?

Golson stole 2.5M. He needs a ICU unit on the sidelines just for him.

Doesn't imply much confidence in Sutton or even Allen. Huh...

Tocho has good size and is an experienced press corner with a decent closing burst to the ball, but an inability to carry speed down the field could limit his scheme fits. The football intelligence and instincts are good enough but he has to prove he can run.

This guy looks like one big, strong looking bastard for a corner.

Watch his highlights.

One of the bigger corners I've seen.

6' and 202, very strong. Some question about his deep cover speed. He's Kenyan so he should be able to run. He's worth a PS look after all the other busts that we have had.

Actually, this Tocho breaks down as a slightly bigger Will Gay. No recovery speed, limited short area quicks and average athleticism. Makes up for his limitations with football intelligence. Has experience in both zone and man as well as playing both sides of the defense. Could be a guy that just needs more developing.

Would working this guy out signal that they are not comfortable w/ where Sutton is in regards to his return?

I'm also surprised that they wouldn't go with Allen who has better measurables.

Golson found a new home on the Bucs practice squad. See how long that lasts.
