The Pens are vying with the Bucs as the worst franchise in town.

Disclaimer, I’ve been trading bourbon samples with a friend all night. If you disagree with any of the following, don’t worry. I probably will too when I wake up tomorrow.
I haven’t been this down on the Pens in a very long time.
I want to say the Mike Johnston era, but I honestly think it was even before that. Probably not since Sid’s first year. The Mike Johnston teams at least had enough talent you felt there was a small chance they’d outplay their coaching.
This team is just completely flat in all facets of the game.
It’s not all Sullivan’s fault, and I truly do appreciate what he’s done here, but he needs to go just out of principle. The sooner the better.
I didnt catch the third period, so I don’t know what those last two goals looked like. But I do know that he got bombarded the first two periods and was pulling miracles out of his ass. Him and Ned need to be the goalies going forward.
Trade Jarry for whatever you can get. He’s redundant at this point.
That’s just the beginning of what needs done, of course. But they’re also the easy things, in my opinion. Roster obviously needs to get younger and faster. Some of that was done, a lot wasn’t. It’s harder with the big 3 still there. But they’ll never be traded, both because the organization won’t do it and because they have no movement clauses.
The big three still have the capacity to be productive and even be worth the contracts they have, but the entire rest of the roster needs to be nearly perfect, and they’re nowhere near.
If we have any hope of competing with them on the roster, they have to be the complementary players to younger and more dynamic players. Unfortunately, we keep doing the opposite. Maybe that’s front office, maybe that the big 3 themselves. I dunno.
