Jarry Out - Skinner In

Post by Orangesteel » Fri Dec 12, 2025 5:35 pm

This team is floundering right now. They looked awful last night and might be a hangover from the shocking loss against Anaheim.

Big test early for Muse to keep these guys focused or they will drop in the standings.

Kulak and Skinner for Jarry and Pouloit. The Jarry Era comes to a close. I’ve made my opinion of him well known.

Skinner is hot right now, but expect him to get very cold say April through June

I don't know shit about hockey… But why are they trading the goalie who's reportedly at the top of his game now?

Because he’s never shown an ability to stay at the top of his game, so makes sense to sell high.

Jarry and Silov are redundant in that neither is the long term answer at goalie and Jarry is more expensive. ($5M+ vs $850,000).

Then they have Murashov waiting in the wings for a shot at becoming the long term answer.

In that context, it may not make sense to get Skinner back in that deal, but Skinner’s contract expires at the end of this season. So it would seem that the plan is to get through this season with Skinner and Silov splitting duty, with Murashov occasionally getting called up for some progress checks.

Then next season, they can theoretically run with Murashov and Silov (or another goalie should Silov falter).

I saw a Tweet today that the Pens only have $50M on the books for next season, which would give them roughly $54M of free space next season, and tons of draft picks to either use or deal.

Obviously, there’s quite a few roster spots to fill up next season (with the impending Malkin decision among them), but they have flexibility to rebuild the roster to an extent we haven’t seen in quite a long time, here.

You guys always knew we just had to enjoy the ride this year for however long or short it was going to be.

This season was never going to be the year, so just enjoy whatever you see.
