Guentzel is a wild card because no one is sure when he returns or if he does will he be effective. Thus you go out and get Zucker.

When the Pens signed Tanev I thought they overpaid him but now I think they got a bargain. WOW, he was such the right fit for this team.
And when comparing him to Hagglin, remember this, Tanev is much more physical(not that Hags wasn't physical). Tanev is one of those guys who is fun to watch every shift.

I'm still in shock at the effort by the Leafs last night. I wouldn't want to coach that group.
Would it be fair to compare Tanev to a young Mark Recchi?
Interesting but I see two totally different players except they both play the game hard. Recchi was much more offensively skilled and Tanev has some skill but his job it to be a big time pest, PK'er and add speed.
Maybe it’s the “play the game hard” part. I see Tanev flying up and down the ice and it brings to mind The Wrecking Ball.

Are they regretting the Tavares signing yet?
Tavares is probably regretting leaving the Island.
I was gonna say, other way around on that one.

Is there any time line for Guentzel's return??
Timeline given was 4-6 months. Best case scenario is that he's back to start the playoffs, but they way people have been talking it doesn't sound like the Pens expect him back this season.
On a brighter note, Dumoulin did some skating today. I wouldn’t read that mean his return is close yet, as I saw some video of it and he was clearly just kind of coasting around to see how stable he felt.

But, good news nonetheless.
That, sir, is excellent news.

Fair.

But Tavares isn't worth $11m/year. There are alot of more productive players making much less.

He's definitely not worth the contract, but if he had known the shitshow it was going to turn into, he'd likely have opted elsewhere. Fool's gold.

On a related note, how long are the Leafs going to remain Canada's version of the bad Steinbrenner Yankees?
