Pens vs Capitals (4/4/24)

Post by Pabst » Thu Apr 04, 2024 5:38 pm

Greetings from Cleveland.

If any of you are in Des Moines I think I'm in the background of a news interview at Hopkins Airport. Go Hawkeyes, I guess

Birdies pulled me back in. I'll be tuning in tonight, much to my wife's dissatisfaction.

You know Tom Wilson is going to score on us tonight.
Hopefully the Birdies can make the Pens fans in the stands tonight happy.

I'm calling a Geno goal. Been hot and he always gets up when facing the Russians.

I'd have to go back and do some research but it seems like Sid has gotten a number deflection goals off POJ shots from the point this year. I see that they gave POJ the second goal now.
Both goals from the defense.
Nice

Right when I was about to type that 5 on 3 kill was as good as anything I’ve seen out of this team in 6 weeks they give one up at the end.

Fucking Rust, would have been all time.

Oh well finish this game.

Great win, all around. Crazy to see this team commit to playing sound defense after all we've seen this season. If only that commitment would have happened in November.

Bunting is a firecracker. I like him a lot. Tanev-esque in his energy and effort level. This team desperately needed that energy.

I've only seen the last two games, but Ned looks like Patrick Roy out there.

They don't quite control their own destiny yet, but they're getting close to that point with playing both Detroit and the Isles before the season ends.

It took Bunting a few games to get comfortable but the system change comes with a learning curve. He has some Kunitz in him and that is why him an Malkin have some chemistry IMO.

Ned is so aware. Tracks the puck so well. MVP for this late season run.

Don't sleep on DOC. He is a catalyst in many facets of the game. He keeps getting more comfortable/ better with more game time. He might develop into a 30-35 point player while offering size and speed.

@Pabst are you in Cleveland for the Women's final four?
Haven't been to Des Moines in a few years but I have driven all over Iowa, up/down side to side. Mason City is one of my favorite places in the US. It is kind of a mecca for all things architecture.

Honestly didn't even realize it was happening when we booked, tbh

My parents and sister's family still live here. My sister's 40th happens to coincide with the eclipse, so we made the trip
