Holy hell, they came back from 3 down and won in OT

I was watching the game at my in-laws. I stopped paying attention when Silov Fleury'd the third goal away, and we left to drive home shortly after.

We drove home and I wasn't even planning on checking the score until I opened Twitter and saw a Tweet that we won.

Have to love the fight in these guys to pull that one out against a team that has had their number.

And worth mentioning that even though they were down 3-0, it didn't feel like Boston was completely dominating the game, even to that point. Pens were getting some good chances too. I thought they were playing fairly well considering they were missing two of their best players.

Also, I have yet to see a picture or video of Sid since the Olympics where he hasn't looked like he's ready to burn the entire world down to ashes. Every time a camera focuses on him, he has a laser stare and clenched jaw like he's about to get in a fist fight.

My biggest concern is that he's going to come back too early and not be 100%. But if he doesn't, I'm expecting scorched earth.

You can tell he misses being in the playoffs. He has been great in the second half the last few years. Couple that with not getting a real chance to play in the medal rounds, he knows he has a pretty short sprint to get back to the playoffs and once that happens anything is possible.

Assuming the Pens make the playoffs, I do wonder if the Crosby injury / Malkin suspension will help the team. It is a lot of games in a short period of time in March. Given each of those two guys a decent break might mean they are fresher come playoff time.

Certainly the glass half full perspective. Goaltending has been as good as it's been in a while, and the youth keeping the team afloat has been a real plus all season. Kindel has been a real factor, and Chinakov is looking like a bit of a heist by Dubas for what we paid. So far, so good, with fingers crossed until the battle station is fully operational. I'm sure, and someone mentioned it earlier, that Crosby has fire and blood on his mind for what he probably feel s got denied him at the Olympics. By the way, my red Crosby Team Canada sweater arrived yesterday. As awesome looking as they were on TV.

I know it might seem a little counterintuitive, but I'm almost happier we aren't living off shootout wins points. Easy to say now, with a cushion (however slim), but I still remember a couple of Pens playoff teams that racked up shootout wins and points in the RS, only to drop games in the playoffs when the format switched.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

Shootout bites us in the ass again.

But you know what? I don't even care. That was another ballsy game for this depleted team to save a point.

coming back from down 2 late-- I'll take the point. But maybe it's become serious enough that they should like do a whole squad worth of shootout practice. Put something big on the line and go one by one until it's decided. They seem to almost universally try the same strategy over and over. Are there no game-theory people in the org?

Yeah, even entering third period with the one goal lead if I was given a choice of stopping the game there and getting one point I would havextaken it

Pens with a stinker last night.

It was bound to happen and for it to happen after crossing the country, it may have just been inevitable.

Still holding the #2 seed, but they can be knocked out of it with even a slight breeze.

The Isles play tonight and would drop us to #3 with a win or loser point.
