Sprint to the Podium

Post by Steeldrama » Tue Mar 23, 2021 1:58 am

1.) Najee Harris 6’2 230 RB Alabama- Bama’s Pro Day is tomorrow. Tombert will be there and fall further in love with my guy Najee. Sprint to the podium pick if there ever was one.

2.) Liam Eichenberg 6’6 305 OT Notre Dame- Stephon Tuitt. Chase Claypool. South Bend not a pipeline, but no doubt Steelers’ scouts dig the Irish.

3.) Baron Browning 6’3 245 LB Ohio St- Jerry O worked out Nick Bolton today and Tomlin zoomed him. They’ll take Browning to a Columbus steakhouse.

4.) Shaun Wade 6’1 194 CB Ohio St- Like Browning, a ballyhooed 5 star recruit. Heading into 2020 was a top ten projection after dominating the slot in 2019. Wheels came off when moved to the outside. Here’s a thought. Let the kid play inside.

4C) Kendrick Green 6’3 300 OC Illinois- Lotta buzz around this versatile fast riser. Any center drafted in any round can beat out BJ Finney.

6) Jamar Johnson 6’1 197 S Indiana- Another kid getting a lot of buzz of late. Shouldn’t be shocking after he made Justin Fields his bitch, sacking him and twice picking him off.

7.) William Bradley-King 6’3 254 EDGE Baylor- Arkansas St transfer had a standout season on a bad Baylor Bear squad. Just goes to show without a trade down the Steelers can’t fill all their needs. No doubt OLB needs more attention than a day 3 dart throw.

7T) Avery Williams 5’9 197 CB Boise St- Special teams WARLORD. 9…that’s 9…career return tds, 3 blocked punts and a blocked field goal. Yes please.

Thanks as always for reading. Please comment on the players you like and those you don’t. Sooo many team needs. Tombert needs to trade down. They won't. They'll sprint to the podium. Every pick. Every round. You know it. I know it.

Nice haul. Not sure about Shaun Wade at that point but who knows with former 5-star recruits.

It took you guys a while but you're coming around to prospects that I really like and have kept quiet about for months now.

If Browning fell to the 2nd round I could see the sprint. He is one ILB that worries me. He is athletic and a great blitzer but he seems to have real issues with reading plays. A bad problem for a ILB/WILL. Might be a Shazir clone in that respect

Alabama RB Najee Harris’ flight from Dallas to Birmingham was cancelled last night due to lightning, so with no other travel options available, Harris drove nine hours to make it to Alabama’s Pro Day by 10 am today. He’s not even working out today but wanted to support teammates.

We don't disagree that he's a stud.

While I agree that Harris is a stud, I have this feeling whichever team that drafts him is going to be dealing with a 1st round RB during his second offseason (between his 2nd and 3rd seasons) demanding a new contract. My gut tells me he and his representation will never accept playing out his 5 year rookie contract -- not even close.

He certainly seems like a stand-up guy, but something tells me he'll expect to get paid earlier than most RBs. If that happens, is spending a 1st on him a wise investment?

A big part of the reason the Steelers have had recent problems with contracts is they lack leadership and guile.

No way Im thinking about future contract squabbles on draft day

1 other thing......Tomlins Steelers have never had more than 1 good RB on the roster....and many years not even 1

Many NFL teams have at least 3 or 4 RBs who can make plays.....often finding guys in UDFA land.....

All you really have to know about the inner workings of the Steelers these days is.....Trey Edmunds is in the building.....Kerrith Whyte is not

Harris is already 23, if I would go RB in the first it would be for Williams, or Etienne, but I wouldn’t go RB in the first.
OT Jenkins or Darrisaw,or ILB Collins for me.

The age and Bama RB factor still worry me a little with Harris, and though I agree that future signability shouldn't be a big consideration in a draft pick, you are talking about a RB who'll be 28 after his rookie deal.

Williams... low tread off the tires, young coming out... Tomlin special.

Add in that he's not expected to go in the first, but could very well not be there at 2.55...

I think javonte is a round 1 talent
I like him better than Eitienne.
No way he escapes my transplant hometown Falcons at the start of rd 2

I'd add that I share Jobu's worry that Etienne, in addition to some serious wear and tear, might not be an NFL feature back. Well before I took Etienne at 24, I'd likely take Sermon at 87, but if we're not fucking around with getting our bell cow back in this draft, it's Williams or Harris, in that order, or bust. If that's the plan, then there's your targets at 24.

I might put Kylin Hill first. Ugly class for RBs.

No worries. Dunce will fly out to shake his hand and let him know they will do whatever they can to accommodate his wishes to play elsewhere.

No need to even get a draft pick in return.

Not the way Tomlin prefers to run their wheels off.

If he’s there take him. Then take some oline and spend rest of the draft on defense.

Don’t worry bout contract 2.

Not with a RB.
