Oct. 26 Mock

Post by Legacy User » Sun Oct 26, 2014 6:46 pm

Got to watch a lot of college football yesterday. I'm going in thinking our top needs in order are CB, LT, TE, OLB, DE, NT, G, WR, S, ILB with no major FA signings and us letting Worilds walk or resigning him for far less money. With all of Woodley's dead money and Ben needing a new contract, I'm not seeing how it's possible unless we cut Troy, which I don't think will happen.

1. Lael Collins, LT, LSU - just a nice all around player. Believe he will be a solid LT for a long time. Not a star, but he's not a top 5 pick.
2. Eli Harold, OLB, Virginia - just love this player. Gonna be a really good one, and I'm assuming we need to replace Worilds.
3. Alex Carter, CB, Stanford - measurables might hurt him slightly, but he's a good fit in our scheme.
4. Carl Davis, DE, Iowa - offers toughness and ability to play meaningful snaps against the run right away, which we will need
5. Terry Williams, NT/DE, East Carolina - probably won't play ahead of McCullers, but I'm not sold, so it gives us another big body who can move
5. Tyler Kroft, TE, Rutgers - raw TE who has had injury problems. Boom or bust type pick.
6. Tyler Moore, G, Florida - former 5 star tackle recruit who transferred and has finally moved to guard, where he should excel.
7. De'Ante Saunders, CB, Tennessee State - very athletic CB. Many small school CBs tend to do well in the NFL compared to other positions because it is such a technique and mentality driven position. Experience is not all that important.

Would love to go corner first, but just don't see a R1 corner right now. Weak at the top this year. Also not a good year to need starting TE.

Looking to add leadership and toughness, with athleticism. Not necessary guys that will jump out of the gym or run fast in a straight line.

I like a lot of the same players. The only think that concerns me about Collins is I believe he's listed at 330, so does he eat his way out of being a LT, leaving you with another RT only, Steelers have 2 of those already. I'd like to see a LT. WEIGH AROUND 310-315.
Worlids is the big question as far as mocking drafts do they resign him or let him walk.
Is Worlids a 10 million per year OLB???

Probably not. So we'll pay him 11.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

I think Collins carries his weight well. It's not a concern for me. Even if the Oline continues to play well, we have decisions to make on Adams and Beachum.

I believe we will let Worilds walk to a shit team ala Wallace if his demands don't come down. He should be looking at about 20 million guaranteed and 8 AAV. I'd say, 4 years 32 million or so.

For me DE and NT are not even a need unless a once in a generational type player falls in to your lap.

Williams, Mauro and Hemer are on the PS currently and they seem to really like Williams. I think we're set at DE. NT? They just drafted a huge giant of a man in McCullers along with extending McLendon we're set at NT. JMO

LT, TE, OLB, CB. Top needs of this team right now IMO. Slot them any order you want to. I go BPA at any of those top position needs and draft accordingly. Sorry Beachum. Sorry Miller. I don't expect Worilds to be playing for the Steelers after this season. And CB is a Glaring Need, period!

I think if any of the DEs you just mentioned plays meaningful snaps next year, with the possible exception of Mauro (but look how Arnfelt regressed from last year to this year), we're fucked.

I don't think we'll draft one early, but if Keisel is done and Thomas is gone, where is your depth? I would think at least one of them will be gone. Then, one injury and, again, we're fucked. We need depth.

My draft addresses all your positions early and double dips at CB, with the exception of TE. I just don't think there are many good TEs this year and the decent ones will be overdrafted as is.

Like the spread across positions of need.

Defence still needs to be retooled and extra depth added. D Line always needs to be a strength

Havent scouted most of the players you have listed. ( need to do more research before I can critique the players)

Looking at the CB crop I am a little more optimistic.

I see four genuine first round CB's
1. Peters
2. Williams ( #1 & 2 appear more physical and willing against the run)
3. Ekpre-olomu
4. Waynes

Mid rounders look promising.
In the 3rd & 4th I see players like
* Eric Rowe (Utah) , Steven Nelson ( Oregon State -- FC's man) and Doran Grant ( Ohio State) fitting LeBeaus CB style
