Early Look at “My Guys” for the 2023 NFL Draft
With the college football season set to start in a little over a month and a half, I have already turned my eyes to the 2023 NFL draft. Now it would be really silly of me to start at the top where all the known elite prospects are, so I going to bring up some guys I’ve been following who I think are going to be really good pros:
Jordan Battle, Safety, Alabama
OK so I cheated a little bit here, I know battle is well known as a the top five safety in this draft class. But I think battle has a chance to be pretty special. His combination of size and athleticism for a strong safety allows him to make plays at all levels on the field.

Antonio Richardson, Safety, Texas A&M
Richardson is my second favorite safety in this draft. He’s another guy that has a great size and athleticism, except he’s more lanky than the aforementioned Battle. He has a lot of experience as the nickel defender for the Aggies, and he shows he can make plays all over the field as well. That versatility will fit him well in todays NFL.

Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
This is the guy who I was really hoping would come out for the draft this past year. Flowers is super elusive and very twitchy, and there’s a wide receiver who I can think play inside and outside. His game reminds me a ton of Antonio Brown, he finds ways to make people miss that is jaw dropping at times. He’s a threat to take it to the house anytime and can run all the routes.

Rakim Jarrett, WR, Maryland
Jarrett has more work to do than Flowers, but he’s another guy who is good with the ball in his hands. Not quite as fast or explosive, but strikes me as that type of guy who could be a that good 4/5th receiver, a guy who you want in your locker room.

Siaki Ika, DT, Baylor
The definition of country strong with the old school mentality that the Steelers could use as a future NT. Plays with heavy hands and can also be more than just a run stuffer as he has good quickness off the snap. He can also take on the double team, which allowed his LBs roam free and make plays. He’s the type of guy who reminds you the Haloti Ngata and Vita Vea types, guys who just wreck offensive schemes.

Andre Carter II, EDGE, Army
I think Carter has a chance to be the highest drafted service academy prospect in a long time. His combination of size, athleticism, and effort is just ridiculous. He’s high cut but can still bend to get the pass rusher, and reminds me of an old school LB. And did I mention he drops into coverage every now and then? This guy screams Pittsburgh Steeler to me.

Jacoby Windmon, LB, Michigan State
Windmon hasn’t played it down for the Spartans yet, but the former UNLV rebel is an absolute heat seeking missile. Seek and destroy should be the only thing written down on his scouting report. Very athletic, this guy is great at getting down hill and after the QB, but will need to get stronger to be able to take on blocks and needs more work in coverage, but he has the look of a guy who has the tools to make it in the league.

Xavien Valladay, RB, Arizona State
Here’s another transfer that I think could showcase his game at a new location. Valladay was stud for Wyoming, and if he can show he can do same against better competition he’ll get more noticed. If he can improve his explosiveness I think he has a chance to really make his imprint in the PAC-12 this year.

Isaac Rex, TE, BYU
Has prototypical size and has great hands, think he a chance to really improve his draft stock this year if he can prove to be a complete TE. His numbers looked much better with former BYU QB Zach Wilson in 2020.

That’s all for now folks, check these guys out and tell me what you think.

Siaki Ika, DT, Baylor is one of my favorites. He needs to get some more technique as he can be moved out of plays too often but he is one of the best NTs in college football.

It's hard for me to reveal any of my cards before the mock season, but I think I'm going to share more this year.
One guy for sure I am higher on than most: LB DeMarvion Overshown

Oh I forgot to put this one out there, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, EDGE, Kansas State.
I am watching ORE vs GA….Dawgs loaded. Christopher Smith is a beast.

This is what the Steelers need at ILB. He plays WILL at Clemson but would fit well as a super athletic fast LB
