I'm bored mock

Post by Charles Demarr » Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:05 pm

How quickly we pivot to draft-season as Steeler fans. It's depressing what we've become.

Only one assumption, Cam Sutton is gone. Someone overpays him.

1. Broderick Jones OT Georgia – Listening to the Steelers post season interviews, the line will be upgraded early. Jones still on the board at 17.
2. Trenton Simpson LB Clemson – Playmaker who will test well in Indy. May not be there at 32 but a huge upgrade if he is.
2A. Deonte Banks CB Maryland – Maryland connection…Big corner rising up draft boards. Also may test himself out of this range.
3. Keeanu Benton NT Wisconsin – Big athletic run stuffer. Fills a huge need. Reports say he’s having a great week at the Senior Bowl.
4. Xavier Hutchinson WR Iowa St - 6’3” excellent route runner, good 50/50 guy. Steelers grab another mid round gem at WR.
7. Dorian Thompson Robinson QB UCLA – The Steelers will draft a QB late this year. Mason gone, and possibly Mitch too. Athletic
developmental guy.
7A. Tavius Robinson Edge Ole Miss – Practice squad developmental pass rusher.

Any draft that has us getting Simpson or Drew Sanders is a good one. I think the Steelers will go after a good ILB in FA because this class is thin.

I think Hutchinson is going to be a JAG but I have been wrong before.

Sanders was my fallback option at 32.

Well my weekend mock is shot to shit
Thanks Charles D lol
Dig it.
Well done.
Not sure Brandon Jones makes it to 17 but I'll be hoping you've got that one right.

Been seeing Trent Simpson dropping into rd 2 in a lot of mocks
I think he's grand larceny with either of the Steelers rd 2 picks.

Drew Sanders to me should remain an OLB
Kid is fantastic coming off the edge.
Only left Bama because Dallas Turner and Will Anderson are a bit more fantastic.

Agree on Jones, probably about a 20% chance he's there at 17. I like a few of the tackles projected as 2nd rounders, but they're right tackles. I would love Dawand Jones or Darnell Wright, but we all know Chuks isn't going anywhere. The NDSU kid is not a left tackle. Nice player, but he's moving inside for sure. Anton Harrison? Tyler Steen? Not sure there are any left tackles after the top 3 that would be an immediate upgrade to Moore. We'll probably end up with Jaylin Duncan because....Maryland.

Yeah, with our HC/FO's recent OL draft track record, it's more likely we end up with Barnaby Jones in the 3rd or 4th round than Broderick in the 1st.

Dawand Jones, if drafted, can be first off the bus. First time I saw him walk into a tOSU game I said "Holy shit that kid blots out the sun!" If you're looking for planet theory...

He really needs to lose about 20-40 lbs. He could be dominate but right now he is a waist bender who has limited lateral movement. HE could be great but he really really needs to get his weight down.

He currently has 21% body fat, which is pretty low by OL standards. That said, he could benefit from pro S&C.

He is much better than Wright ( Tenn) as a blocker and mover. I totally get the Steelers looking at Wright as a OG.
