NIL and realignment ruined it...I am not feeling the love this week

I think it's pretty great if you're a fan of QBs. Some QBs stuck in bad situations or playing at a lower level got a change to transfer to better, bigger situations. That's great for the game at all levels.

But, yes, some teams went from contender to barren (Washington, FSU); other teams became loaded all of a sudden (Miami). It will take some getting used to seeing new names in new places but I found it kind of entertaining.

For my money, it's maybe even more interesting watching everything shake down. B1G and Pac-12 were a pretty natural marriage thanks to many, many Rose Bowls past, and it should be interesting watching those historical matchups mature into rivalries. If anything, I feel like it's going to be harder to keep up with all the good/great players and teams... going to be an adjustment just keeping up with the B1G.

As far as NIL, I think what we're really complaining about is the portal, and I think it's given some players a chance to shine on bigger stages and/or with better opportunities for PT than they've had. I'd support limiting it to one window per year, just so the coaches could spend a little more time on player development and mentoring rather than even more recruiting.

NIL is what it is, but most of the bigger schools (and by big, I'd consider Pitt and BC big) have been paying players forever, so I'm not sure what the harm in bringing it into the light of day is. Reality is the players have been making the universities billions for compensation in the thousands for a very, very long time, as well, and now that balance is being addressed, sort of. Note I didn't used the words "solved" or "fixed."

I thought it was a great, intriguing first weekend for a CFB season that, at least for me, is going to need to do some heavy lifting to make up for how little I'm looking forward to Steeler Sundays this fall.
