Marte running through Leyva's stop sign is looming larger & larger. Second guy tonight who's been a hero and a bum on the same play.

Agreed on both counts.

Remember, this is only Liriano's second start off the DL.

I have zero issue with lariano getting pulled..im see reason to be hopefull !

Then why the fuck did he bat?

Who knows? Maybe because he led off?

The hit dropped right in fromt of the left fielder...now as it turned out, Mercer would have been safe because the throw home was way offline.

But Leyva was right to hold Mercer up.

But my KINGDOM for a hit with RISP. Cutch and Martin both tried to go yard instead of making good contact, and both ended up looking like idiots.

Marte got beaned in the head by a 93 mph fastball...that was the delay.

Watson got through his 8th inning, but I am starting to get slightly concerned about him. He labored through the inning...also gave up a single and two hard hit outs.

Wonder if hitters are starting to figure him out.

Do Pittsburghers just not care that they come off as provincial?

Those goddamm "woo birds" are at it again...they sound so stupid.

Good overturn. Close but out.

Polanco actually had a good night even though he only got an infield hit and a single.

He had good at bats against two good left-handed pitchers tonight. Here's hoping he's started to figure it out.

Let's go Melancon! Close this one out!

Clint Hurdle's explanation for batting Liriano in the 5th, then removing him in the top of the 6th- if the Pirates had still been trailing, Liriano would have gone out for another inning- Hurdle felt he still had about 15 pitches in him. But if the Pirates tied the game or took the lead, he was coming out.

My response to that is...um...OK.

Not quite sure of the thinking there, but whatever.
