Or the McKenry Games! Funny how so many people felt like Morneau was a key target now that he's having a great season as opposed to after his time with the Bucs.

Lots of 20/20 hindsight in regards to him.

I wanted no part of him after his performance for the Buccos as the season wound down. I was excited when the deal happened, disappointed after. Referred to him alternately as Justin Iginla or Jarome Morneau as the season ended and playoffs began.

I know, apples and oranges. But the disappointments were similar.

Not me. I wanted them to try and make a play for both Byrd and Morneau.

As mentioned elsewhere, Byrd keeps Polanco off the field. I have been looking forward to seeing what this dude could do for a while. It's more exciting than another season of Marlon Byrd, and will be much more valuable to the team's future.

I say this knowing full well that Byrd is having a great season with the Phils.

At the beginning of the season I thought Polanco would need an entire year at AAA. So that's why I wanted to keep Byrd around.

Of course I changed my tune on that when he tore up AAA, and I am still patient right now, but I sure hope he gives an indication he can make adjustments and get out of this slump. We need him to do so.

Very young player. Was going to have to adjust to major league pitching eventually. I'm just excited to see some of this talent down on the farm that we've been hearing about.

me too... I thought we just caught morneau in a slump..he was quality player his whole career.. not shocked he has rebounded at all.. he was great in the field for bucs. oh if he was at 1st this season we avoid the 2 stiffs there now..that be great..

I don't remember how many seasons it has been this way, but yes, they added an extra day. The All-Star break used to be only three days long, with games resuming on Thursday.

Our division rivals have some tough matchups this weekend. Nice opportunity here to close the gap!

About this I do. They went after guys. I don't remember a single person that wanted Morneau over Loney or Trumbo or Lind. Magically they're all over the place now.

But yeah, can't deny they fucked up badly at first base.

I wouldn't have minded Loney either.

And I am going to say it now...time to DFA Liriano.

He's not coming back.

it amazing to see how a pitcher can decline .. one year unhittable and strong.. then its gone.. such a fine line with that position ..just the way it works I guess

Liriano is finally looking good, bats, and then doesn't pitch.

Hurdle was dead on right. Injuries climb after the 100 pitch mark pretty steeply. You don't gamble your future away.

Marte running through Leyva's stop sign is looming larger & larger. Second guy tonight who's been a hero and a bum on the same play.

Agreed on both counts.

Remember, this is only Liriano's second start off the DL.

Then why the fuck did he bat?
