I'm trying to figure out how Snider couldn't see there was no one on first base...he never once looked back after the walk?

I never played baseball beyond high school, but one thing coaches always drilled into us was to always ALWAYS have our heads in the game and know the situation at all times.

Yes...Gaby's error was more egregious, but Snider's was not far behind.

Now they have the ignominy of being the only Major League team...ever...to have run into a double play off a walk.

I hope they realize this and understand just how incredibly bad it was. I don't think we'll ever know exactly what was going on inside of Sniders head, but it sure as hell didn't have anything to do with the game that he was involved in. You just can't take a play off in the middle of a pennant race.

Yesterday was about as bad as it can get.

I don't know, I blame Snider much more than Gaby. Gaby may have been pretty flustered at wtf was going on and broke for home, but it was Snider that started the whole debacle.

after watching this dumb ass play a couple times I wondered this.. the pitcher seemed shocked snider was walking aimlessly.. had he just broke a bit earlier all out its possible he makes it? catching the pitcher by surprise.. had gabby immediately broke for home off pitchers action to throw does he make it? delayed double steal in actuality..don't know.. I know this was never planned but wonder if in right circumstance and planned it might work.. had they both broke only 1 is out for sure.. maybe shock value induces bad throw.. anybody ever seen this?
funny too..wonder what snider thought when pitcher threw over...hmmm oh shit-fuck..what am I doing? lol.. gabbys like hell;; ill run too..cant have 2 guys on 3rd.. I blame snider most..he caused it.. but its amazing 2 well paid mlb guys on same play are clueless to the situation..

Misplay of this season.

60 some years ago in Saratoga, NY. our HS. BB coach stole third with the bases loaded and NO ONE out. in a semi pro Sunday game. HELLO, TRUE.

it's not possible to steal 3rd with bases loaded -- 2 men on a base, means you're out

exactly..htpothetical..snider breaks for third after walk.. as catcher throws ball to pitcher.. the surprised pitcher -confused whips ball to the surprised 3rd baseman running to bag..quickly sanchez books to home plate.. interesting .. maybe snider beats throw? or 3rd baseman shocked by action; doesn't make tag on snider but throws home; maybe to late to get gabby? just wondering if that play if planned would work..ever.. hurdle giving the delay steal sign on a walk.. dumb;; but dumb enough to work? anyhow.. new game new day..

The pitcher was up at bat. The Pirates were up 2-0. Two men were out.
The pitcher hit a SLOW ground ball to Pedro, who loaded up from just behind the pitchers mound & threw one about 6 inches off the dirt.

Davis should have had it, but given Pedro's air mailings, Davis probably was thinking the ball would come high not low.

BTW -- This team has a nasty habit of scoring early and then trying to hang on to win 2-1 games.
BTW -- This team tied the game 3-3 in the top of inning #6 and the genius manager we have decided to leave leaky Locke in the game, which is now 6-3 off two home runs, one by a guy who hit his first HR in FOUR YEARS.

Locke pitching himself back to AAA when Cole returns.

Jeff Locke is mentally weak. He fits in perfectly with this regime.

I guess locke is returning to last seasons 2nd half form.. he is apparently good for a month or 2 of a season.. im shocked locke still in game.. he was already at 100 pitches.. hurdles only barometer on the starters being in game.

Sadly that's what we have to hope.

Thank goodness football is back.

I agree..the trade deadline is like a mid season reshuffle of lineups..looking at bucs its hard to not see lots of weak ass areas..weak sister bench! shitty bull pen.. weak at 1st and 3rd..just a quick assessment..and they do nothing to upgrade today??? really? cpuld not find a pinch hitter better then moral or Martinez?? a closer better then frieri? middle reliever better then stolmy? give me a fucking break.. those fuckers need purged and the team upgrades from them not on the field. what foiled a byrd trade? fuck;; get morneau back..

Gave the error to Davis, but it was Pedro and that ridiculous glove tap and a throw in the dirt. Pedro is a fucking mess.
Then of course we have The Great Motivator leaving an obviously ineffective pitcher in the game longer than he should...once again...

But hey, we're good...

I guess gomez was wore out after his 6 pitches! now we roll the dice and pray for stolmy to not suck ass..more brilliant managing.. Martinez taps out to short.. he is our best pinch hitter these days? he is moving below the 12 guys in history hes ahead of in batting avg! this crap is getting beyond insane..

I can't believe what I just heard. Pirates are 2nd (D-Backs have the most) in the National League in "physical" errors.
They have to be #1 in mental errors? How is this team still 6 games over .500.
Says more than anything to me about how terrible the rest of the National League is.

And with that said, this dis-organization still refuses to go ALL IN to make a serious run at a pennant.
