Really loved the look of Jones today, phenomenal!
I’m giddy thinking about a rotation with two pitchers that can touch triple digits.

3-0!
Will they pull off the 4 game road sweep to start the season?
Please give me some real baseball! I can’t die with 1979 being the last WS championship for this once great franchise.

Well that's a way to start the season

Great way to start! Jones looked dominant on Saturday, the pen looks lights out, the team has grit by winning two tough extra inning games, and coming from behind multiple times throughout the games this weekend! That's the way, let's go Bucs!Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 11:56 pmMan, 5-0 after 1st inning isn't easy to come back from. Great start.
We're leaving lots of men on base, but....it's nice to have so many men on base in the first place.
I'll give Falter credit for bouncing back from a horrid start, but he can't be out of the lineup soon enough.

5-0!
Ok, I refused to get excited. But Skenes isn’t even here yet. And they are scoring a lot of runs.
I know, I know... Miami and Washington.
But still!

Gritty 11th inning win. Against a good team too. Good start to the year.
Loved the fact the hometown kid Bart, brings the lumber & launches one in his first at bat in front of the home crowd.
Cruz missile for the walk off win too.

Loved to see that start by Falter yesterday. Chapman made a statement in his inning. Young Bucs proving to be a resilient bunch so far in this early season. They've been tough in extras so far. Let's go Bucs! Win this series!
Another thrilling come from behind victory yesterday, this time in 9 innings. 8-2 to start the season, looking good at this point on nearly every level. Joey Bart came over and is doing a great job already behind the dish. Everyone pretty much contributing. Let's Go Bucs!! Bring on Detroit!

Bednar Blows?
Man that sucked. I think it's possible Bednar is still not 100%. He looks really bad and has pretty much in every save opportunity (3) he's been in so far. 3 blown saves is not good. Let's see if he goes on IL, or is removed from the closer role for a short time. Chapman can handle it for a while.

No doubt. Velocity is there, but absolutely no control, or as they call it nowadays, command. Today was a perfect chance to get him going so I can’t fault Shelton completely. However, they gotta bite the bullet and do whatever necessary for a complete reset while it’s still early. Can’t just give away wins, especially after decent performances from the rest of the team.MJG75 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 7:50 pmMan that sucked. I think it's possible Bednar is still not 100%. I don't fault Shelty at all for putting Bednar into that situation. It's ready made for him, and a perfect chance to get his mojo back. Didn't work out, but it was probably the right move. Now, I'd look to see him in some non-high leverage situations. Shelty said after the game yesterday that he was healthy, so probably no IL in the near future for him. Chapman can handle the closer duties for a while.

Scenario: Relievers can’t find the mound, let alone the strike zone.
Pirate announcer “What’s Shelton gonna do?”
My answer—-Worry about who’s gonna be second out of the pen a week from next Friday, given pitch counts, weather, and who’s gotta go to Altoona to save $8.53!
Poor guy has a lot to think about. How can he possibly see what’s in front of his eyes!
My gripe is not so much him personally, but the way today’s game is front-officed, managed and played.

Marco Gonzales goes on the injured list with a forearm strain. They aren’t ready to go to Skenes yet so it looks like Fleming might get inserted into the or Quinn Priester might get the call up.

Damn well had better be QP and where the piss is Big Carmen at GMBC?
We finally have enough talent assembled again to make a legit run at the Division and these mopes are already playing checkers and not chess
Roansy cannot be allowed to be literally useless on this club either.
Shit or get off the pot.

I hope it's Priester. Give the kid another chance.
Sucks about Gonzalez, hope it's nothing too serious. This is where our depth is being tested.
59 pitches.. 50 of them strikes… lifted after 5 shut out innings. Seriously? WTF? I’m 100% ok with limiting the workload of a rookie that appears vital to the team’s future success. But this is just an absurd level of caution.

Agreed. It goes too far. I rarely ever boo my own team, but I was present a couple years ago when Max Kranick was dealing a no-hitter through 5, pulled due to pitch count, but dammit, it's a freaking NO-HITTER!!! Those don't happen all that often, let the kid have his moment in the sun. Yeah, kind of pisses me off. Jones was dealing, one hit, they weren't even close to tagging him. Should have been allowed to go one more inning, at least. Another wasted quality start. Damn and lost our first series. Avoid sweep today, let's Go, Bucs, get back on track!!

The whole team is in a hitting slump, kind of odd actually.
