Twins bench coach and knew Cherington from his time in Toronto. I'm hearing a good choice from the sports media talking heads. Unfortunately the common denominator is Bob Nutting.

It's a decent hire, as were the hiring of Williams and Cherington. To go along with the firing of a lot of personnel who were loyal to the Huntington way, and were out of date, hopelessly. I'm moderately excited by the changes, but of course, there is still The Nut, as you pointed out, Jack. We'll se if this group can push him further than the last group was able to, or at least be shrewd enough to put together a contending ball club with nickles and dimes to spend.

A couple of interesting theories I've heard about this, MeanJoe.

1. Nutting is similar to Jeremy Jacobs, long-time Bruins owner, who was considered a cheap bastard in Boston for decades. He finally got religion and put together a team to bring the Stanley Cup back to the Hub after almost 40 years.

2. The Nut's dad but his foot down after another dismal season on the field and at the box office and demanded a change.

Again just theories I've heard. I tend to believe the third theory that Nutting just sucks.
