Agreed there this is a hell of a game.
I could see Wilson getting 3 games for trying to knock Marshessault out of the series.

For real though, Wilson needs to go. That was extremely bush league.

Wilson doesn't care, it is obvious after last night.
The players aren't going to do anything nor or the refs. Hopefully, the league steps up and punishes him(again).
There was no need for that shit last night.
The Golden Knights are a resilient team for sure.

At the time and looking at it again it didn't look like there was any head contact. Looked like he took more damage from the ice than Wilson.
It was late and should have been called interference on the ice, and eventually it was. The only thing I didn't understand is why it was a 4-on-4, it probably should have been vegas on the PP.
I don't see anything particularly remarkable about that play, other than as per usual, whenever Tom Wilson breathes on a guy there's a chorus of hot takes from the peanut gallery here.

“Breathes on a guy...” You sure that’s all he’s doing? I watch a lot of hockey and he’s in a league of his own. He’s cheap and he’s in denial. He and the rest of the lot need to stop using the phrase “old school hockey”. There is a reason we’ve moved on from that. Wilson is a piece of shit. Period.

To be honest, and this is physically painful typing this...I've watched the play a couple more times this morning, and it's really not as bad as I remembered.
Late and deserving of a minor penalty? Absolutely.
Cheap? Ehhhh.
It wasn't THAT late (watch it in real time, not slow motion), it wasn't to the head, he didn't lunge into it, and Wilson outweighs Marchessault by about 40 pounds, making it look a lot worse than it was. He could have honestly put a lot more force into that hit and easily put Marchessault in the hospial, if he wanted.
I think if it wasn't Tom Wilson, we wouldn't be talking about it today.
Of course, Wilson earned that reputation, and this is what happens when you do so.
But in a vacuum, I'm definitely rethinking my opinion on it today.

The cheapness of it was that it is blindside. Marchessault had moved the puck and obviously had no clue the hit was coming. I think the lateness of the hit can be somewhat forgiven if the hit is coming from the front. But that hit was way too late when factoring where Wilson was coming from to deliver it. And given his history Wilson doesn’t deserve any benefit of the doubt. It was a late, unnecessary, blindside hit from a repeat offender.

Well it's not only blindside, but it was extremely late. That's the danger factor and it's not completely necessary. I mean why hit a guy like that so far away from the puck and when he's not looking?
The hits he's making, they're predatory.
That hit on ZAR...I mean in a vacuum you can probably say "it was a check gone bad". But when you have the same dude involved over and over, you begin to piece together these just aren't accidents.

Actually, when Wilson delivered the hit, Marchessault's hips were facing Wilson. He was too busy watching his own pass and had his shoulders turned to watch the pass. If his shoulders were at the same angle as his hips, that hit probably gets him right in the chest.
While I support making the game safer, my belief is that you can't put the onus on the guy making the hit to make sure the guy receiving it is paying attention.
If you're going to go that far, take hitting out of the game all together.

My thoughts too. I agree with Lipps it might not have been as egregious as the ZAR hit, but blindside and intent to injure are there for sure. Getting hit at that speed when you have no idea it’s coming is really dangerous. Wilson had him lined up for about twenty feet; look at Wilson’s eyes leading up to the hit. He’s either extremely stupid or wildly cheap. I want to believe the former but it’s likely he’s just really cheap.

My team's still playing. Ergo, I'm not leaving.
What's your excuse, except to waste everyone's time and clog up the forum with the same one-note BS you've been posting a hundred times before?

I mean, how often do you get melba toast smack on a message board? After looking it up, I probably would have gone with the semi-related peach melba smack, myself, but hey, that's what makes horse racing.
And yeah, your team sucks and Tom Wilson is a piece of shit, in case there was any doubt.

The peach melba definitely more my speed. Refreshing summer dessert, dates all the way back to Escoffier. If Chef wasn't currently ban, he could enlighten us further, I'm sure. And if I did reference the wrong melba at some point, well, I am a man who drinks...

Wasn't suspension-worthy, and I hate Wilson as much as anybody.
The Vegas dude that got hit was right- he sat there admiring his pass a beat too long, and paid the price.
Late hit? Yes. Dirty and intent to injure? I don't think so.

I have to disagree with this. From the article: "So how unbelievable was it that Houston missed that many threes —
many of which were wide open — in a row?"
I counted about 10 or 12 that would be considered open looks (by NBA standards). Maybe 5 that would be wide open.
Yes, Houston went cold, but GS did a great job defending the perimeter.

The Orioles 30-3 loss a few years ago to the Rangers was less of an outlier that Houston's three point shooting in game 7. Because there was a game in the 19th century that was worse. It's not like GS is going to give them all a free look. Even if guarded by LeBron, a bad pro should be able to make 25%, and many of those were spot threes.
Fuck it, I'm watching puck. Not optimistic about Cleveland against the champs here.
