Not only had Gudbranson been better than I thought, but JJ has really come on a bit, too. Don't think it's time to contemplate purchasing a sweater, yet, but it's certainly been a pleasant development.

I am not pumping my own tires...And I realize 99% of posters hope Grubs is a stud and continues to play at a decent level

Grubs is nothing more than a 5-6 defense-men.

What he brings to the Pens is simple....He is rough and tumble and he will kill for his team mates.

In a way he is similar to a combo of Rob Scuderi and Eric Godard.

His offensive skills are limited to moving the puck and making decent outlet passes to clear the zone
His defensive skills are limited to clearing the crease and blocking shots
His best skill...30 scraps he takes on all comers and he has not lost a fight in a long time.
He is not a donkey like Wilson Domi or even Bob Probert(RIP).

Some will point out the Werenski hit on Jake Guentzel...Which was borderline. This is where the donkey thing comes in. Grubs didn't do anything stupid...He went out and destroyed Jenner and Jones his next two shifts. The Pens have taken 11 less hits a game since Grubs was added to the roster...It may be coincidental...I don't think it is.

Will Grubs win the Pens the cup this season...No. Could Grubs be a part of the reason. IMO Absofuckinglutely

I have a feeling Tom Wilson is going to get another ass whipping from Grubs on Tuesday and to quote Bart Scott

Happy to see JJ and Grub working out well.

Could actually point to JJ's resurgence as: 1) playing his correct side and 2) being paired with Schultz. Obviously I'm happy things are going well and I don't get quite as annoyed when I hear JJ's name :)

Jury is still out on Grub...I don't notice him, which is all you can ask for. If he made $2M less I'd say he's a steal...I have more issues with his salary vs his play at this point. Hoping he keeps it

The only move I hated was losing Hags - hope that doesn’t come back to burn us.
