Detroit lost to Carolina 4-1 tonight, eliminating them from post-season.

For the first time since 1990-91...or the season the Pittsburgh Penguins won their first Stanley Cup...an NHL post-season will not include Detroit.

Hard to not respect that team.

I know the generally accepted practice for a team that was that good for that long is to hate on them, but I could never really find a reason to. They've had some great players and were fun as hell to watch.

Those Colorado/Detroit playoff series from the late 90s/early 2000s were some of the most fun hockey I've ever watched.

Meh. I don't particularly care about other team's fans (except Penn State fans. The amount of whining by them ever since the Sandusky scandal has been unavoidable, even by someone who couldn't care less about college football, such as myself). Any team in any sport that is in the middle of a long successful streak is going to have annoying fans. You'd be hard pressed to find a list of "Most annoying fans" for either the NFL or NHL and not see Steelers and Pens fans among the top 5.

And the longest playoff run not belongs to the Birdies.

It is hard to replace Lidstrom, Datsyuk and eventually Zetterberg. The Pens will find out AGAIN when they can't fill the skates of Crosby and Malkin right away.

those 2 cup series vs wings were unbelieveable in excitement..edge of seat shit every game..one was heart breaker..
