Why do people think Kevin Hart is funny?
Honestly, I don't think he has any talent at all. He's not even in the conversation with guys like Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, and many more.

I dont know his work. The last comedian I discovered and really enjoyed was Lewis Black.
Mike Tomlin: Bringing mediocrity to the 'Burgh for over a decade.

He was on Mike and Mike and First Take this morning, and has been in the past.
He tries WAY too hard to be funny, yet he is making millions in movies and appearances. He has won the MVP in the celebrity game during the NBA All Star weekend twice and only scored 7 points last time.
It's embarrassing that so many people find the guy funny.

Humor is subjective. He's doing something right. I never really got the whole Dane Cook thing but once again humor's subjective

Same question can be asked about Tyler Perry.
A lot of humor is very target audience specific. Larry the Cable Guy would bomb with Bill Maher's audience and vice versa.

Larry's from the town next to mine. Dude doesn't have hint of southern twang...to your point, he got to his target audience & made a shit ton of money via a character his audience could identify with. Different strokes for different folks.
Last comedian I found funny was probably Mitch Hedberg. Jim Gaffigan is good, IMO, and Tosh's standup is awesome. Although I'm biased due to him being a FL boy.

Very true comments.
IMO just isn't very funny. Obviously he's doing something right. Richard Pryor is the best I've ever heard.

I think Norm McDonald, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, Dana Gould, Lisa Lampinelli and Adam Carolla are great. I realize they are not everyone's tastes. Fallon and Kimmel have done a good job appealing to a wide audience. If I'm in the right mood, I get into Louis CK, but sometimes his self humiliation is too much. Most comedians do have a specific audience. Russell Peters became an international star tapping the East Indian market. I think he brings in like 20 m a year and sells out big halls.
If I were on stage in front of 5000 people I'd rather have to pretend to die or be in love than have to make people laugh. Comedians have a really tough job and what they do is a kind of high wire act that could easily go bad.

Cook Sucks out loud. Can't stand the guy. My son loves him. I don't get it. Perry and Hart to me are about the same category of funny. Ok funny but not gut busting for me.
I'm more old school I guess. I like George Carlin, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy types.
As far as black comedians, I do like Chappelle, Kat Williams, Rock, Mac, Redd Foxx, Harvey, Tucker, Eddie Griffin, Peele, Michael-Key, Witherspoon, Cosby, Cedric the Entertainer, Craig Robinson, Damon Wayans, Garrett Morris, Terry Crews, Martin lawrence, Epps, Sykes, Mo'Nique, Jimmy Walker, Michael Winslow, Anthony Anderson, Nipsey Russell, Sammy Davis Jr., the list continues.

Everyone is different, and everybody likes what they like. Ones taste in comedy is no different. I don't find Jim Carrey funny, with the exception of his role as the Grinch. Frank Caliendo annoys the shit out of me. And Every time I see Dennis Miller, I want to introduce the side of his head to a 2x4...my gawd, does the guy suck! Yet they are all making tons of cash doing their thing.
As for Kevin Hart, the only time the guy made me laugh, was the video of him and Jimmy Fallon riding a roller coaster. He was scared shitless....screamed like a little girl!

You must not own a TV or go to the movies.
I don't like his style or think he's funny at all, but he's basically on every network. You can't hide from him if you tried.

He's not that bad. In the movies he's played in he hasn't been terrible. His stand up routine is something to be desired or an acquired taste I you will.

A really popular short, black comedian/actor.
Haven't seen Dave Attell's name mentioned yet. If you can see him live, do it
Funny (not Kevin Hart funny, actually funny), I've seen this almost identical thread on at least one other board.
I've seen one or two of his movies. He barely approaches the "that's humorous" without making me laugh level.

Why did you waste a dime or time on a 2nd movie if he sucked in the 1st?
Humor, poetry, chicks and politics are subjective. Sometimes they are temporal. George Carlin annoyed the shit out of me until I turned 40.

I didn't pay a dime either time. He's been in a lot of shit, almost everything these days it seems. Just saying he's humorous without being funny.
